from the home of coca-cola, i'm not referring to s
i didnt say he fought fighters AS tall as this
i said hes fought fighters who "are taller than him and are pressure fighters"
and had no problems
paul williams fought like he was 5'3. never used his size advantage so its pretty much a non factor in regards to that. ( i don't like dissing paul williams i;m a fan but the way he fought was frustrating at times)

cheato just keeps coming straight and his style becomes void with your a little footwork and ring smarts
PLus hes a CHEATER
Never understood people's love for this phony
is the cotto hate really this bad:dwillhuh:
Margerito lost to great punchers with Power. Something Floyd is not. And hasn't been since he entered WW division.. There's no doubt in my mind Prime Pwill and Margarito would've gave Floyd huge problems and possibly an L :smugfavre:

Just like Pac was gonna overwhelm him with output and force him to fight, huh?

Just now seeing this:francis:

Are you gonna REALLY sit here and compare Margarito as a volume/pressure fighter to Manny Pacquiao? Are you being serious breh?:comeon:

Even in his KO loss in 9 to Mosley, where Margs was dominated, Margarito still was on pace to throw 730+ punches over 12 rounds:usure:

Even with a destroyed eye against Cotto, where the fight was stopped at the end of the 9th round due to how bad it was, Margs had already thrown 700 punches in the fight.....with 3 more rounds left:usure:

Even with a broken face against Pacquiao, Margs STILL threw 817 punches over 12 rounds:usure:

Bottomline is, Margarito never stopped throwing punches for any reason in any fight. Against Paul Williams....he still threw 652 punches.

The only way his punch output would've dropped like Manny Pacquiao's against Floyd would be if Floyd got on his bike and did excessive moving. Hitting Margarito NEVER stopped him from coming forward and throwing back at you. Floyd didn't even possess the power to sit down on his punches and hurt him. He would have had to be constantly on the move as I stated in the post you quoted.

So a sample size of 19 years and 49 fights of completely shutting down his opponents output still isn't enough for you, huh? You guys have an odd way of discrediting Floyd's abilities while propping up average cats. Margarito isn't a legend maker, so stop acting like he held the key to foiling Floyd's career. It's like most of y'all started watching Floyd once he got to 147. Corrales was just as rangy and hit just as hard with a always throwing style and was completely nullified by Floyd. He set a record for landing single digits in every single round. Margarito was much slower and your theory of him "overwhelming" Floyd with volume is laughable. Especially with his take 2 to land 1 defense.

He's unquestionably had the best career in boxing history. Nobody made more money, took less damage and created their own path like he did. He's Def top 5, and TBE he's in thr conversation.

if he wouldve fought margarito at the peak of that fight.. it wouldve been floyds 2nd fight at welter....vs a guy who was huge as a welter and had fought at 154...

you can't compare corrales and margarito... totally different fighters... a better comparison would be margs and castillo... and even that is strech...

peak margs vs. floyd wouldve happened in 2006/2007...

floyd knew high risk no reward fighting that guy.. plus dlh was on the horizon...

an interesting fight wouldve been margs v. dlh.. but we all know dlh had already experienced margs in sparring and wanted no parts of dude..

it wouldve been a tough fight for floyd... p will wouldve been a tough fight for floyd... on paper and in real life ppl knew what type of fights those would be ...dog fights...

but a fight like baldomir. and smart fight fan knew what type of FIGHT THAT was gonna be...

again.. floyd is the smartest guy in the room with regards to boxing...SMARTEST.. ALBERT EINSTEIN levels of ring IQ... he knows whats up...

all the excuses he used to not fight margs ( who is this guy, he doesn't sell tickets , losses on record blah blah) he didn't seem to use those excuses on bums like the bertho and even worse victor ortiz or even much worse robert guerrero... GUYS WHO WERE ALL WORSE THAN AS FAR AS THE CRITERA HE LAID OUT for not fighting those fights...

can't fault him though.. worked to plan and he made it big after the big pay day dlh fight...

Plus they offered him a career high payday (8 million at the time) to fight Margarito.....and he turned it down to take $1 dollar more to fight Baldomir:francis:

Floyd knew what he was doing. He knew Margarito and what Margarito was doing in the ring. They were both signed to Top Rank and Margs was being proclaimed (him & Punisher) the most avoided men in Boxing, which is why they fought each other.

umm no
he was gonna fight margarito if arum gave em some guarantees to fight De La Hoya and another fighter (i think hatton)
and arum said your not worth it so he dipped
that was during a transitional period in his career when he was becoming his own boss
so yes he fought baldomir ( who was champion and ,lets not forget ppl were said he was scared to fight baldomir too:francis:)
and then the rest is history

i can't believe your on "floyd ducked this fighter" train, you should know better:snoop:

but you also don't think cheato cheated to beat cotto so there might be some bias involved here:manny:

Pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. rejected promoter Bob Arum's $8 million offer to fight welterweight titlist Antonio Margarito, and he instead exercised a provision in his contract to buy Arum out and become a promotional free agent, Arum told ESPN.com on Monday.

According to Arum, Mayweather turned down the career-best purse to meet Margarito on Aug. 12 on HBO Pay-Per-View, instead opting for free agency by buying Arum out of their deal for $750,000.

"I did hear from him," Arum said of Mayweather. "He decided not to fight this summer. I made him a tremendous offer. I think Margarito is the riskiest fight for him of anyone out there."

Mayweather adviser Leonard Ellerbe told ESPN.com that Mayweather passed on the fight not because he is ducking Margarito, but because he couldn't be ready to fight by Aug. 12. Mayweather injured his right hand during a dominating April 8 victory against Zab Judah.

"Floyd is not 100 percent healthy," Ellerbe said. "He has a bruised right hand. His hand is not broken. It's bruised, but it's a bad bruise. He wants to go into any fight 100 percent healthy. If Antonio Margarito happens to be the best available option when he is healthy, so be it.

"We are not turning down Margarito. I want to make that crystal clear. When and if he is the best available option for Floyd's next fight, that's the direction he will move in."

That's a duck all day, every day:ufdup:

so yes he fought baldomir ( who was champion and ,lets not forget ppl were said he was scared to fight baldomir too:francis:)

He turned down Margarito in April 2006. Nobody was saying Floyd was scared to fight Baldomir in April 2006. Then with this happening:

Although terms of Mayweather's deal with Goossen were not released, industry sources believe he will make at least $8 million, plus a percentage of pay-per-view profits. Mayweather rejected the same offer from Top Rank to face titlist Antonio Margarito.

Mayweather, Baldomir to square off with title on line

That shows that Floyd ducked Margs in April..........only to sign to fight Baldomir for $1 more.

Also I won't forget all the "bu-bu-but, Margarito isnt a big enough draw", "Bu-bu-but boxing fans dont know who Margarito is", "Bu-bu-but, Margarito has five losses (disregarding Baldomir having 9 losses at the time)":comeon:

i can't believe your on "floyd ducked this fighter" train, you should know better:snoop:

Floyd ducked him...you can never prepare a proper defense for that, because it is what is is.

Everyone was looking for Floyd vs Margarito and this nikka said no, bought himself out his contract, went to Dan Goosen to fight the easier Baldomir for the same money +$1:camby:

but you also don't think cheato cheated to beat cotto so there might be some bias involved here:manny:

At this bland attempt to move the goal posts, bringing up something that nothing to do with what we're talking about:snoop:

Since I don't wanna rehash that topic and if we moving goal posts...then:

But you also don't think Floyd cheated to beat Pacquiao by using 15x the amount of fluid in his IVs that are allowed under the WADA code in a 6 hour period, so there might be some bias involved here on your part as well.
