Exactly, thats why most consistent should be Jay, because at the risk of pissing of all the forums he does music that feels right for him at the time. And it succeeds everytime, which is why his fanbase is immensely larger then Nas.

Consistency shouldn't be based on one person liking every album they make, but whether or not it succeeds in the eyes of the people. Not everyone will like the same Jay albums, but at least a million different people do every time out, thats consistency.

Jay isn't moving into new innovative directions though. He's just riding current trends. Totally different.

It is agreed universally that Jay-Z has atleast 3 duds on his resume.

Not only is that not true, but it's also off topic. We're talking about consistency, save the excuses as to why he's so consistent for another thread.

Which 3?

You say Kingdom Come, I say Nastradamus (which by the way was way more panned then KC)

You say Blueprint 2, I say Streets Disciple.

We could go on but what's the point? We're talking about consistency, who has been pleasing a much wider range of fans the longest? Who has been able to sell out arenas in 3 different decades? You might not like all the albums, but thats okay, another million people do.

If your idea of consistency is selling records, then I think you're the one who's off-topic. We're talking about the strength and variety of discography, not sales.

When ur the most popular people tend to give passes...if what ur sayin is the case..Carter 3 and 4 are some of the best albums to drop in over half the decade...and if u gonna use sales...Nastradamus went plat...SD went plat...HHID almost cracked plat...and Untitled went gold...

Might have to give it to Outkast, ATCQ, or Nas, he has a few bumps in his catalog though. Jay is somewhat close, but his catalogue is a bit hit or miss as well

RD: 10/10
Vol. 1: 7/10
Vol. 2: 5/10
Vol. 3: 4/10
BP: 10/10
BP2: 6/10 (should have been just one disc like Streets Disciple)
Black Album: 8/10
KC: 7.5/10 (his most underrated IMO)
AG: 8.5/10
BP3: 1/10 (Album is straight trash, WOAT album by a top 10 rapper)

Purleeeeeeeeeease stop redundant talk of KRS-1. I saw dude in his prime in the early 90s. He was too doPe. But in 2012 he's just another legend who couldn't keep up the pace. Nas stands alone. The only arti$t that would have troubled him was Pac. He is to this day our Elvis.

Jay is consistent too, but lacks original creativity. Then again it's to be expected as Brooklyn keeps on taking it.

See, you're misconstruing my words. What I'm saying is that an artists consistency should not be based on my all powerful opinion. How else can you measure an artists consistency with the people? Of course there are your "flavor of the year" artists like Nelly or 50 Cent doing huge numbers but time always tells on whether or not that artist actually has a fanbase and is consistent, which leads to my reply below.

You're right that people forgive popular artists many a wack album, but for how long? Look at all the top sellers Jay has survived, from Puffy to DMX to 50 to Wayne. You can't be serious with your comment, it's not just about the popularity, it's about maintaining that popularity. Eventually the fans will see through you and move on to the next hype, Jay has been at a top level for over 15 years, how is that not consistent?

Vol. 2, Vol. 3, BP2, Kingdom Come, The Dynasty: Roc La Familia etc....all below par (I didn't even get to those BOBW joints)

I was talking about quality albums here, not all that other stuff u mentioned.

Jay is the most successful rapper of all time. I think we can all agree on that. How does that measure up to consistency in his music? Jay is more famous now than ever, but he's definately not releasing his best music.

Stop it. You clearly haven't checked for his latest work and are just hating. Like I said before, his latest album from this year (which I posted a link to on page 3) is as close in quality to his early work as is Life Is Good to Nas' early work. Just 'cause Nas has more fans on this board doesn't mean KRS is 'irrelevant' in 2012.
