Might have to give it to Outkast, ATCQ, or Nas, he has a few bumps in his catalog though. Jay is somewhat close, but his catalogue is a bit hit or miss as well

RD: 10/10 - Agreed.
Vol. 1: 7/10 - 8/10.
Vol. 2: 5/10 - 8.5/10.
Vol. 3: 4/10 - 7/10.
BP: 10/10 - Agreed.
BP2: 6/10 (should have been just one disc like Streets Disciple) - Agreed.
Black Album: 8/10 - 9.5/10.
KC: 7.5/10 (his most underrated IMO) - Agreed.
AG: 8.5/10 - Agreed.
BP3: 1/10 (Album is straight trash, WOAT album by a top 10 rapper - 6/10.

Jay is the most successful rapper of all time. I think we can all agree on that. How does that measure up to consistency in his music? Jay is more famous now than ever, but he's definately not releasing his best music.

That's debatable too.

Unless you consider Diddy a rapper, I don't see how it's debatable. But I'd be interested to hear an argument for it.

I'ma tell you why Nas is the most consistent (imo):

people mentioning Ghost, Ice Cube, etc are forgetting when it comes to making MUSIC, NONE of them had the pressure on them to produce a classic everytime out of the gate like Nas did after Illmatic. They have an easier time making albums than Nas do because they don't have the pressure of the main stream AND from his core fans. How many times is Illmatic mentioned when you read a review of any Nas that comes out?

No Father To MY Style.. A Son Unique
ghostface still has a superior catalog.

cuban linx, ironman, supreme, BPW, P Toney, Fishscale > nas best 6 albums

the lower tier more fish/apollo kids/big doe rehab/ reminds me of nas lower tier shyt

wizard of poetry idk how to rate because its an album for woman. i gave it to my girl its one of her favorites but of course i cant listen to it. lets not act like if nas tried an r n b album it wouldnt be his worst record tho

LIG is a great comeback, his previous releases leading upto it werent anything special sides a few songs.

Sure, Jay has the record for most #1 albums (in a row too and over a long period) and he's one of the richest people in hip hop.

But you can argue that what counts most when gauging success as a rapper, is selling records. Both Eminem and 2pac have sold more records. Of course, it all depends on your definition of success.

Okay, good point.

Ghost has an incredible catalog, but not as much range as Esco. I have to be in a mood to hear Ghost. I can be in any type of mood and find something from Nas' catalog to rock with. And I think Ghost is one of the best ever. Probably in my top 3.

Vol. 2, Vol. 3, BP2, Kingdom Come, The Dynasty: Roc La Familia etc....all below par (I didn't even get to those BOBW joints)

I was talking about quality albums here, not all that other stuff u mentioned.

According to who? I've heard people say BP3 is Jays best album and some guy here gave it 1/10, who am I to tell either one they are wrong?

Nevermind, I thought this was an objective convo, but if only your opinion matters then whats the point? Might as well wait for someone to say Wayne is the most consistent too, no one will ever be wrong.

I mean, you can say any album is great. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. Not a big fan of BP3 myself, but there's some jams on there. But if it's so great why bring sales into the equation?

Yes, to me Nas has never released a terrible album and since Stillmatic I've enjoyed everything since, Street Discipline may have been a little dull in some ways but it was good.

Exactly, so why debate it if we cant base our arguments on something tangible? To consistently appeal to over a million people for over 15 years is consistency.
