Im a new member and Ive been lurking these forums for about a month and I decided to register..I usually give respect to the ol heads of a forum but this post is soo bullsht ur not worthy of an ounce of respect

Lets not act like your ear is so biased that its easier for you to find the substance in a Nas track and easier you to tune out the substance of a Jay track.

So you're telling me Jay hasnt talked about the state of black excellence and how we're also at fault for our own lack of it? Or how about his baby, Or how about the futility of chasing success just for the sake of it? Or how about people's envy getting in the way of their own success? Or how about speaking on the tragedy of all kings/great men and the rise and fall of all of em, akin to Solomon's observations in the Book of Ecclesiastes. Or How about the questioning of the need of divinity?

Im sorry anytime I see a dumbass say that Jay only talks money I gag. Do u just skim the music u dumb nikka?

Also I hope Im welcome here but and I usually respect the OGS nahmeen
But this dumb nikka aint getting no respect from my noob ass.

And Ive always wanted to use these faces :skip:
OOO that feels good

I gotta throw the flag on this one...

Ghost, Cube, and i'll add Scarface who was mentioned in here; their careers (like Nas) started with (serial) classic material.

Ghost - 36 Chambers, half of OB4CL, Ironman (that is classic material, I don't see how anyone can dispute that)

Cube - Straight Outta Compton, Amerikkka'z Most Wanted, Kill At Will, Death Certificate

Face - Grip It!, We Can't Be Stopped, Resurrection, The World Is Yours, Mr. Scarface Is Back

And that was just their beginnings. I would say the most definitive mark of their consistency is that most can't agree on what either one of theirs' best work is, despite their having so much classic material...

Nah bruh what i'm saying is with those artist you've listed, they've NEVER had the pressure from the mainstream AND their core fans to drop a classic album everytime out the gate like Nas does. I mean right now, those people you listed could drop an album today and even if it's great, people won't care and it won't receive the mainstream love that Life is Good awarded Nas with. That's what I mean. Being able to remain consistent almost 20 years deep when BOTH side of the spectrum have equally high expectations.

Nas isn't even close to being the most consistent. With no bias whatsoever I don't see how you could possibly talk about the most consistent and not mention Scarface, Black Thought, Q-Tip, Big Boi, or Ghost. Whether you like Nas or not, the the general consensus is that he has periods where he just fell off slightly. shyt, even Common is more consistent. Common usually has a couple really dope albums in a row then maybe one average in between. You could even argue that his worst stretch is right now from UMC to Dreamer and he's been rapping for more than a decade

EDIT: Cube started off insane too.

I'll give you Scarface and Big Boi, but how has Q-Tip been consistent? Same with Ice Cube..Just because you start off strong doesn't mean we should ignore the past 10 years of your career...

Black Thought has zero expectations...

Common is in my top 10 but his catalogue has just as many peaks and valleys as Nas...

Q-tip doesn't have one bad album to his name. His solo stuff is tight and off course his albums with ATCQ are tight. The first three ATCQ albums are classic/near classic. Beats is like a 3(.5)/5. The Love movement is the one bad album

What do you mean he has zero expectations? I expect A LOT out of a Roots album. Regardless, that doesn't diminish the consistency of him as an MC or The Roots as a group.

Common has maybe 2-3 average albums. Nas might have 4-5 depending on if you count Street Disciples.

I respectfully disagree that Nas has up to 5 average albums but I'm not gonna try to talk you out of your opinion....

When I say that Black Thought doesn't have expectations it comes from his the realization that most people can't tell you the difference between a great Black Thought verse, an average Black Thought verse and a wack one..

I knew you were going to point out the mistake when I saw the notification :bryan::dead:. It was too late

I AM, Nastradamus, Hip Hop Is dead, N, Street disciples aren't considered to be average for his standards? I even see people say that Distant Relatives was a disappoint, although I really like that album.

I AM is a good album, Streets Disciples gets a lot of unecessarry hate imo...DR is an excellent album although it's not all because of Nas (Damien killed it)..

The only albums that I would say aren't good are HHID and Nastradamus

Illmatic, IWW, Stillmatic, Lost Tapes, Distant Relatives, Life Is Good=Excellent

I Am, Untitled, Street Disciple, Gods Son=Good

Nastradamus, HHID=Average

He doesn't have any straight up BAD albums...Again.. Common is my guy.. But Electric Circus and Universal Mind Control are bad albums imo...Nas has a higher batting percentage...The lows of Nastradamus never got as low as UMC...HHID sounds like a classic next to EC....
