Yes, to me Nas has never released a terrible album an since Stillmatic I've enjoyed everything since, Street Discipline may have been a little dull in some ways but it was good.

:comeon:

Even Nas would tell you that Nastramus is just a coaster for his glass of "Cosmo w/ a cherry in da middle"

Wakanda
1. Kast
2. ATCQ
3. Nas
4. Pac
5. Common
6. Jay-Z

5 and 6 is switchable, Common has been very consistent in his career, only album I didn't like from him is U.M.C.

I think almost universally people would say Nastradamus isn't Nas' strongest work but I would probably give it 3.5 mics or at worst 3 so I don't see it being absymal overall. It has some songs I really fukk with.

Exactly, so why debate it if we cant base our arguments on something tangible? To consistently appeal to over a million people for over 15 years is consistency.

If you're going to strictly numbers, then there's really no debate. But that's not how we've ever debated rap music.

Might have to give it to Outkast, ATCQ, or Nas, he has a few bumps in his catalog though. Jay is somewhat close, but his catalogue is a bit hit or miss as well

RD: 10/10
Vol. 1: 7/10
Vol. 2: 5/10
Vol. 3: 4/10
BP: 10/10
BP2: 6/10 (should have been just one disc like Streets Disciple)
Black Album: 8/10
KC: 7.5/10 (his most underrated IMO)
AG: 8.5/10
BP3: 1/10 (Album is straight trash, WOAT album by a top 10 rapper)

Wait the fukk up. I'm a die hard nas fan and all but am I the only dude that thinks vol. 2 is a classic and it's what saved jay career from going back to the block? I pick that album over bp any fukking day. I can't listen to bp like that. Most over rated album ever in my opinion.

Vol. 2 is average, there is some great songs on there, then there is some songs that are ass, BP is one of my fav albums of all time, the production was top notch, he did his thing lyrically, and overall, and album that I can still enjoy to this day. Not to mention BP had takeover on it, shyt is what brought the classic Nas and Jay battle to the masses. Even though Jay lost that battle though

If you're going to strictly numbers, then there's really no debate. But that's not how we've ever debated rap music.

But we're not debating rap music, we're debating consistency in hip hop, if we get our opinions involved then how is anyone going to win? Or even simply make their case? Someone could actually say Lil Wayne is the most consistent, rate all his albums a minimum of 4/5 and you can't say shyt, because that's how they feel.

The reason I point to sales is not because it makes the quality of the music better but because it shows that while you or whoever might not like it, a million people did, and that means he was consistently able to please people musically. And he did it for 15 years consistently, without taking breaks for years, which is unprecedented in hip hop.

I think I may have expected too much, this is after all a hip hop forum and 99% of the content is based on opinion. I should've let it go after someone said E-40 (no disrespect to him).

ghostface still has a superior catalog.

cuban linx, ironman, supreme, BPW, P Toney, Fishscale > nas best 6 albums

the lower tier more fish/apollo kids/big doe rehab/ reminds me of nas lower tier shyt

wizard of poetry idk how to rate because its an album for woman. i gave it to my girl its one of her favorites but of course i cant listen to it. lets not act like if nas tried an r n b album it wouldnt be his worst record tho

LIG is a great comeback, his previous releases leading upto it werent anything special sides a few songs.

ironman and cuban linx aren't solo albums.

I agree. Nas is the most consistant. He has been one of the most unfairly criticized mcs too since It was written.

People throw the word garbage/dud around to describe some of nas albums and act like it's proven fact! To me a garbage albums is an album where at least 50% are unlistenable.

for example, how can an album like Street Disciple be garbage?
How many of these songs are really wack?

With that many quality songs, I can never understand how people say SD is wack.

Nas spits about EVERYTHING. The fact he tries different shyt on every album is exactly why he has the best catalog of all time.
Whats the big difference between I Am, Stillmatic, Nastradamus, Hiphop is dead and God's Son. Lyrically It's dreaming, being poor, being rich, surviving and over coming and relationships. Those are wide topics.
And he talks about those topics a lot of times, in different ways LYRICALLY, but he keeps the same flow, delivery, rhyme schemes, sounds of production on a lot of albums and songs. The overall mood setting of the albums are also very similar. Which is why he doesn't have the best catalog in my opinion. Tyler the creator talks about different shyt too, but the shyt still sounds the same.

You could move around a lot of Nas's songs on to different Nas albums and they would fit on there like nothing, cause ain't much changed. I appreciate that he holds the same quality but a little more creativity, courage to do (not say) different shyt, move outside of your comfort zone like Untitled which slightly was outside of his comfort zone just slightly. It's been 18 years since he came in his game and he's still keeping it very similar to how it was when it came out just weaker and weaker production. That's why as a poet Nas is probably #1, just of reading his lyrics. But when I listen to the music he moved down a few spots.

That's the only negative thing I can say about Nas, just like I can say 1 negative thing about all the top 10 rappers besides maybe Pac and Big cause they had such short careers.
