animation in invincible is so cheap and they clearly spend all the budget on the fight scenes and top tier vas
I've seen weekly anime churn out better with less money

Still love the invincible comic book and the show is good but its not gonna be comparable to the boys which is a complete deconstruction/ take down of comic book superheroes

They've removed so many things that makes the boys a compelling series. They clipped the butcher, they removed MMs tragic backstory and have made too much of an effort to humanize the heroes instead of playing them straight up like they should. It's some of the things that I don't like about the series

But the comics they adapt are the goofiest ones.

I mean if they were making an animated Road to Perdition then yeah I’d want to see it taken seriously as an adaption. But giving a story about alien empires fighting and demon detectives… give me MTV movie award.
Breh :wow:

I’d pay good money to see if that could be pulled off, lawd.

Seeing a lot of criticisms with the animation in Invincible. I’m sure it’ll be a big step-up in that department next season.

Both are very good and deal with the "heroes are fukked up/humans and Superman is a tyrant" aspect, which Boys does a little bit better since Homelander actually loves his* country, and is a stout nationalist. You can get a lot of arcs and or development with that angle. In Invincible Omniman is essentially a Romulan with Superhuman powers, they only wish to conquer and live forever, which works of course, but its very one dimensional.

The first season of The Boys was great, but I’ve noticed that there’s a huge element of deus ex machina when it comes to the protagonist of the show. They’re never really in danger and that takes a lot from the show for me.

Certain characters need plot armor, even Martin with Arya and Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, sure he had a lot of us going with killing Drogo, and other fan favorites, but he says it himself, you have to stop trying to subvert expectations, or else the story is lost, and you're creating twists chapters and murder porn all for the sake of coming off original. So yes, some characters have to be safe. However in the Boys, its less about who's going to die and more about loss...essentially who has more to lose and how they lose it. For some its their sanity...for others its a child, a loved one, or even fame. Character death doesn't happen only in the literal sense.

Only watched the first ep of "Invincible" but I was pretty :ld: towards it.

The swerve at the end was cool but when a series premiere is only good or talked about because it's last 2-3 minutes....I dunno. This shyt was hyped to high heaven, I expected more from the first ep.

Obviously this has no bearing on the rest of the reason. The rest of the eps could be GOAT status, I'm just going off my initial impression.

And I dunno what cats are talking about criticizing "The Boys" season 2. The way they skewered Trump/MAGA with Homelander/st0rmfr0nt and their movement was incredible.

For those who think The Boys is too jokey...

Just remember there's a live action Invincible show coming and the violence will likely come off cartoonish as well
