ppl who are 'spiritual' can at least admit that organized religions are bullshyt. but they feel lost without the idea of a magical, invisible father figure. not to mention that they only have the concept of a god in the first place, because of religion.

Spirituality is vaguely defined. Basically it shares common ground with religion in the fact that it concerns itself with a "higher" existence, about one's "purpose" and "role" in the world/universe etc. Like I said, it's vague, but it can mean to anything beyond the "profane" world.

The difference is that religion has clearly defined concepts about the "higher" existence, where as spiritual people are winging it.

but those spirits and "higher powers" carry flavors from previously exposed or predominant religious concepts...so you can't claim they're entirely unique or original.

It means: "I want to believe in something so I take the aspects of existing and popular religions and twist it to fit what I want to be true since the brand name religions along with my newly created amalgamated religion are bullshyt"
