Illegals and muslims can't be central to the Democrats anymore. Voters are just stupid. Admit it.

You just said the following:

But scroll back a few pages

I doubt you even realize how many times you've contradicted yourself just in this thread. You're officially HuffPost status - all aggregation, zero analysis.
I was talking about strategies and how people vote.

Then the thread evolved into solely why supporting illegals is a losing cause.

You can't beat white people at racism.

You CAN pull from moderates on key issues. Like illegals.

I think the biggest L Democrats got was depending on the Hispanic vote thinking demographic changes would flip Texas,Georgia and Florida blue. Hispanics are conservative and see themselves as whites since they look down on blacks. That was a major miscalculation. Dems has to face the fact that vast majority of white people are conservatives or leaning conservative.

Thing is Nap liberal economic policies are more popular than Republicans. Dems should run with a liberal economic platform for the middle class.
Florida is different from both Texas and GA. Florida went blue in both Obama elections. Something happened in this Trump election. Trump managed to get the Florida Crackers from all over the state to go out and vote, while there was more apathy amongst voters who would've been anti Trump had they voted. Florida has a diverse political spectrum when it comes to Hispanics. There's conservative Cubans and liberal Puerto Ricans and everything in between. GA and Texas tend to be more hardline conservative than Florida.

I think arabs/muslims are gone from the GOP for a generation. The war economy and the subsequent war on terror is going nowhere. I see a time soon that illegal immigration will no longer be forefront in national discourse. I see the talking point fading away with Donald Trump
I agree. I think there will be a point we will finally turn on the saudis and limit terrorism permanently and go searching for the next enemy (probably Greece the way things have going the last 5-6 years), I don't know what the GOP plans to do to weather those voters back. Look, Serbia was the biggest threat back in the 1990s and where are they now. The same could happen to islamic terrorism. I think the repub base is in for an ugly surprise when trump leaves the stage. The consultants will push them out, they will try to fight back but the country club repubs have the money. I see a split on the right, one that will stay for a good, long while. They almost cost them the Hispanics. The base hasn't got the message yet, they're existence now is to join the military or die on heroin, if they don't go to school.

Peep the electoral map.

We all live AROUND each other.

If really wanted to win more seats, we'd put refugees and center-left people in deep red suburbs.

Drive outside of your ring-highway.

Thats why Dems lose. Its not the candidates. Its the geography.

Its easy to win the popular vote when you focus on cities.

Ossoff had lots to overcome. But 90% of this forum doesn't know what GA06 is like. I know that area well. No democrat is winning there. No matter how far left you are. They are a republican core. Straight down to the values.

Karen Handel was being a flat out bigot and people LOVE that. You can't beat people like that.

Thats why I don't tolerate Hillary slander. People saw who trump was and THEY LOVE IT. Thats not HRC's fault.
Agreed, I think folks are denial about how these people really feel about political correctness. They see an uncouth politician "telling it like it is" and, it wouldn't have mattered who they trotted out against Trump. Couple that with the rise of Isis and Isis motivated attacks in the West, and Trump had the presidency in the bag. Fear is a strong emotion. Trump appealed to the core of White working class America's fears, insecurities, concerns, etc. I guess you can partly blame Liberals for not being attentive to the needs to working class whites. But let's be honest, once Trump won the Repub nomination, their minds were already made up. Bernie would've lost also.

You previously said that illegal immigrants should be offered a path to citizenship. :hula:

If illegal immigrants don't have jobs, they wouldn't come. If they couldn't get paid here, it wouldn't be worth it. If they don't make money coyote's wouldn't take the risk since they won't get paid.

Then your just back to a crime issue/drug smuggling issue.

Yelling ILLEGALS MUST GO isn't policy. It's not a plan. It's just rhetoric.

What amount of illegal immigrants "MUST GO" before workers see a benefit? How much will it cost? How many agents will you have to hire? Can the government afford those resources? Do we fire those agents once they're gone? Do we have enough qualified agents who can pass the clearance requirements? How many years will that take? How are you stopping illegal immigrants from coming back in getting jobs.

Your solution just sounds dumb because it has no meat. It's just platitudes.

how is it rhetoric when trump is currently doing it, trump is setting up the infrastructure to start massive deportations, rhetoric is becoming reality

The problem isn't illegal vs legal to the majority of people in this country, it's that they're not white.

If they were protestant cacs immigrating here we'd be having parades like we were the Third Reich.

actually a lot of hispanics are white and on top of that that latin america is just as racist as the united states

the notion that letting in people from latin america is going to reduce racism in this country is one of the biggest lies being told by the democrats, black people are being bamboozled that fighting for immigrants is equivalent to fighting racism

nikkas with money vs nikkas without.

Where you fit in the labor market.

Those who are competing with illegal immigrants.

nikkas at google aren't worried about Juan. :BeanUMad:
the people that are worried about juan are not going to be enthused by politicians that display the attitude you are displaying in this post, that is why immigration is killing the democrats

Thats not good enough. Republicans stay voting for disgusting character. You can't beat that.

This just repeats the whole "Dems have to fall in love, republicans fall in line" talk.

Democratic voters are too fukking soft. They need the rub and tug before they even get out of bed.

Too soft? What does this even mean, people who make up the Democratic base, should just continue to vote for these corporatist blue dogs just because they have a (D) behind their names? People have real problems and Democrats have exacerbated many of these issues, with their terrible policies.

They didn't vote that way

They don't vote this way.

They don't vote this way.

The working class is all republican. Because people equate "working class" with white people.

The GOP is just the White part.

This isn't true poor people who would be included in the working class tend to not vote at all, as can be seen here:

"They often have inflexible jobs, have limited transportation options to get to the polls, and/or insufficient knowledge about democracy and the choices they face," said Zoltan Hajnal, a political science professor at the University of California, San Diego. "The poor also often lack efficacy and don’t feel like their votes count as much."
Bernie Sanders said poor people don't vote

So instead of making an effort to do something, like set up or expand carpools to the polls and educating the poor on policy, in an attempt to expand their voting base, Democrats should continue to move to the right and become Republicans who shop at Whole Foods? How the fukk does that make any sense?:aicmon:

Honestly I think Trump's rise is more because of Obama than Muslims or Immigrants, after all it's not like they weren't around before then.

Not so much anything in particular he did, but the optics of having a black president really offended a lot of white folks (even Colin Powell and some other Republicans have admitted this) and mobilised the far right and they've been on overdrive on the Internet recruiting people since then (read any Youtube or Yahoo comment section post-Obama).

Dems should indeed stop focusing on LGTB & minorities.
The majority of people need t be conviced. That's means show the redneck that with Dems, he/she can have better paid jobs, better future for his kids. Period.
That's means having the gut to say NO to student debt, price inflation without wages inflations & cie.
It's (again) the economy stupid.

And leave The Clinton and other political dinasty out of sight.
