well said. A quality mountainbike from the 90s is better than a modern bike from walmart.

Scwhinn is not what itused to be. I bought one from walmart thinking I was balling poured about $200 into it thinking im the shyt. And had a catastrophic failure from the manufacturer. I then studied up on it. Bought a specialized rockhopper off Craig for a bill. Put about $500 into it amd now I have a decent entry level bike that feels like a couch on wheels.

the prices went up 5x since then and they look ugly now
i use to get mad hate for it because it was brand new, red/chrome and had springs in the frame
one time i came out and nikkas stole the seat
another time nikkas punctured the tyres

I hate to sound like courtdog, but craigslist can be good to a nikka if you want check them out. A brand new bike versus a new one doesn't make much of a difference as long as it ain't rusty and works. nobody out there checking you out for having the latest bicycle release.
