Gamepass still isn’t a proven model of success. Microsoft has yet to put their own AAA games on the service which is what you’re asking sony and nintendo to do
Hindsight is 20/20 but you don't have the luxury of that in the moment. By the time Game Pass is a proven model of success it will be too late to mount a response. Sony could adopt the Disney+ model and say pay $9.99 a month for the service and get the back catalog while all new games are $30 or after a year included at no extra charge.

Would that cause some short term pain, maybe? But it would give their fans something to fall back on.

I say they are in trouble with the online community. Sony is so entrenched with communities outside of online that it won’t affect them that much.

Microsoft would definitely catch up and gain grow with Sony this generation and that’s was the goal Microsoft wanted to set. Sony has continued to show that they are always out planned and can’t adapt to the times. They were late with online etc...

Xbox finally has full backing by Microsoft and you will see what Xbox One was intended to be

xbox still doesn't have games people wanna play.
This is fiction, if for no other reason all the studios they've recently bought on board. Just the ZeniMax purchase alone makes it fiction.

Microsoft picked up 15 studios since 2018. You give them a 3-4 year development cycle and the first of those projects are due in 2021-2022. That's not counting the 5 studios they already had that mostly developed their mainstays Forza, Gears, and Halo and The Initiative that's working on Perfect dark right now as well as Rare.

All in all they have like 19 studios developing Xbox games and 3 more one that does mobile, one for Minecraft, and one for PC games.

Xbox Game Studios has been almost totally made over from the previous generation.

breh the gen will be 3-4 years in before any of them make noise.. come on now.
You're still talking about generations. They're building out a streaming service. Generations don't mean much in the face of that. Does Spotify exist in generations? Do HBO Max and Netflix? Whatever generation whatever game comes to you'll be able to pull it from the cloud and play it on your screen of choice without even having to have physical hardware if you chose.

The measure of their success is how much recurring revenue they're pulling in from their total subscriber count and how fast it grows more than how many proprietary boxes they sell. Them selling you a console is one option to get you as a subscriber but it's not the only option.
