Not because of the beef nikka. Actually the reason Lo got hot for a minute with music is because of how he did in the beef. The fukk you talm bout? :dahell:

I really don't think Canibus was ever gonna be what they thought he was gonna be. Bad album or not, if you look at the landscape in 98-99, who was he gonna be hotter than? DMX?
JAY-Z ?
Master P and No Limit ?
Look at his subject matter there was really no spot for him anyway. The beef and wack album just sped up his end imo.

Ja had one of his biggest hits with “New York” 1 year after the beef, and an album that went platinum….

The real answer is

NWA
PM Dawn
Canibus

:comeon: You also have to account for how high he was before.

Like we dont need the guy to literally disappear forever. Of course Ja Rule qualifies. He’s the cover art for ‘career ended due to beef’

Man, fukk is you talking about. Lo ALWAYS got love in the city. He had way more respect in the hood than TI

Who said he didn't? We are talking about music careers, not who was more respected in the hood. Musically, Shawty Lo was irrelevant after that. He was nowhere near where he was at when "Dey Know", "Foolish" and "Done Done" were in heavy rotation.

He didn't need to be hotter than anyone, but he could've had a wild successful career.

Back at the time, damn near all of the labels were in a bidding war for dude. He spent a couple years paying his dues and doing mad features and mixtape freestyles to get his buzz going and it worked. Everyone thought he had next. He just needed the music to go along with his potential. But he turned down Def Jam, Interscope and all the labels that were pushing the best Hip Hop at the time and decided to get down with Wyclef and sign a deal directly with UMG, who didn't even have a Hip Hop department.

Subject matter wasn't an issue. Underground MC's were selling the most records ever during '96-'99. There was a lane for every kind of MC back then. If he had the right people around him, and if he wasn't calling his own shots and trying to manage his own career while beefing with legends, it would've turned out different for him.

Chino XL

Man got ended by a stray
I see you been watching that bullshyt ass youtube series Stunted Growth. Chino Xl was in the same place before AND after being mentioned by 2pac. If you didn't buy Here to Save You All, you didn't buy I Told You So. He had his own fan base like Ras Kass and Jurassic 5. He was never going to sell records. Please don't take anything that dude says on his delusional videos as truth. The dumb mfer said Gang Starr had a stunted growth after dropping numerous classic albums and crossing over to the mainstream without trying to haha. He's a goddamn joke.

FACTS!!

Chino's best sh*t was Here to Save You All, and that was pretty much as dope as he would ever be.

He was making some waves in the underground early to mid '96, but he was never as good after that. He got dropped from his label right after the album came out. On the second album, mad years later, he managed to get a couple of Dilla beats and good features, but he was so corny and seemed like he was forcing a lot of his metaphors and punches. And he was definitely coming off like he was trying to sound like Em, who was running sh*t at the time. Chino killed his own career.

That damn beef with KRS sent Shan straight to smoking crack.

He was STILL trying to diss BDP later on his second album, and people were telling him that he already lost back in '87. He couldn't get over being clowned like that. Being dissed on that level was still new in Hip Hop. He got depressed and started getting high. Sh*t is crazy.
