It really does take computing to another level.
For comparison purposes, think of a regular HD as a 1.8 liter 4-banger. Then think of an SSD as a 4.4 liter supercharged V8. There really is that much difference.

I have a ssd in my machine, I boot up to the desktop in under 12 seconds, no waiting for windows to load programs either, everything is lightning fast. I will never go back to mechanical harddrives for the main operating system, I do have a mechanical 500gb drive as back up though.

8 gb kingston hyper
asus z68 v3 gen3
radeon 6870
osz 550w ps
cooler master hyper 212+
1tb seagate drive
antec 300 case
all cost me about $700 with taxex

Yep, I have a 60GB SSD and loaded Ubuntu (my primary OS) on it. I boot in probably 15-20 seconds.
