I was like :dwillhuh: until I started messing around with the PC Builder and piecing stuff together.

Just hit up my lil bro about using his school discount to get Windows 8. He said there's a nice discount on it so we'll see.

Total = 764.16 (without taxes)

So after manipulating some things around and finding a better power supply and throwing in the 6870 I came out a little cheaper than I initially did. I took out the additional CPU cooler and the optical drive from Liquid's suggestions. I also found single 8GB stick of ram for a dollar cheaper than the 2x4GB sticks that I originally went with.

Is that power supply good enough for what I'm working with?

PSU is fine. As far as ram goes there was a time where I swore by Corsair ram but after having trouble with the last set I copped which is same type you posted. I actually copped 32GB of the following today,

Crucial Ballistix Tactical 8GB DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) CL8 Desktop Memory Module 649528757630 - Micro Center

It's performs better than the Corsair ram at the same price and doesn't have the crazy over the top heat plates. Crucial has less reported RMA's as well. I'd also go switch the SSD for a Crucial M4 for the extra 8 gigs at about the same price. Haven't really checked benchmarks for the Samsung though.

The more I look at your build the more I want to change shyt... The 6870 ruled at one time as best budget GPU but I think that's changed. There's times where you can get GTX 570s and similar performing cards @ that price range which run circles around the 6870... I'd hold out on that.

Better choice,

Good lookin'

:whew:

Good thing I didn't start splurgin' on Amazon with the stuff I listed so far. I'll pick up that 8GB RAM you linked tomorrow when I pick up my other stuff.

I really don't know anything about video cards, but people were vouching for the 6870 something serious, so I just went with it. But as you can see, the only shyt I bought so far is the CPU and the motherboard.

Save the GPU for last. Especially with Black Friday coming through. Actually I'd save everything else you got left for Black Friday & weekend deals.

Use this site to compare GPU's,

Aight, I'm a chill now.

I just copped the RAM you linked since there's only 8 left at that store and I'm going to drive out there tomorrow anyway.

I'll be lurkin' for the deals now on the rest of the stuff. Bout to go watch Homeland, TWD and Boardwalk if I'm up to it. Been searching sites about this for most of the day.

After looking at TigerDirect's Black Friday ad, I think I'll be able to shave off a little bit more of my final cost or upgrade some things for the same price that I initially found.

TigerDirect.com Black Friday / Cyber Monday Ad Scans, Deals, Previews and Secrets at Slickdeals.net

They have the CPU I just copped for 20 less than Micro Center, but that's cool cause I got the 40 off on the motherboard so...

:ld:

But they do have a 3TB internal for 89, and if I opt to stay with the 2TB they have one for 69. I'm only on page 2 of the add and I've already noted a few things.

that motherboard has a built in sound card. plus that sound card you linked to is kinda bo-bo. that mobo actually has an optical out, but that sound card doesn't. basically you don't need a sound card, but if you really want one, get something better then that
