black middle class is more connected to black poor class ........than any other group is connected to the poor. . And are affected by more of the same shyt and mentality as the poorer blacks.

you said that the average black kid isnt anti academic, that is false

of course middle class blacks are more effected by whats going on in poorer black communities, that is my point, you are the one suggesting that its just a money issue, im trying to say its a cultural issue

if it was just money then middle class black kids would perform at the same level as middle class whites, but they dont, they perform worse, so its obviously not just money

but the real question is, do you approve of claud anderson generalizing black people and criticizing black culture?

economics isn't all about money...

I say it's a group economics issue, not money.......we need a refocus. That refocus will naturally lead to better education... as poor education comes from all these other issues.

Claud Anderson doesn't need my approval, but he has it.

Don't try to equate your gross misunderstanding to what he does....

Yeah, but that has nothing to do with you and your generalizations...

He has solutions, you have random empty talking points about education

oh i see

but there is nothing empty in what i am saying, the way to fix education is to eliminate public schools over time and switch to charters and vouchers, you can disagree but its not an empty talking point, in fact charters and vouchers are one of the central issues currently in education today

my other point is about addressing culture, and speaking of schools, the only schools whether public, charter or private that succeed in black communities are the ones that address culture, that is the one thing successful schools have in common, is the focus on culture, they dont focus on money

So your saying a school that takes away all the negative media influences and replaces it with a well rounded culture void of the failures of modern hip hop- is what we need.

You think we need schools that focus on modern ideas about math, engineering and science - and encourage kids and parents to focus on black culture and morality.. A school that trains kids to be future leaders of a changing world -regardless of financial circumstance?

You mean something like this :ohhh: watch from 1:30 - 4min

im not trying to micro manage schools, im suggesting the complete opposite

i think that we need a free market of schools and ideas and complete school choice, the point of having independent charters and vouchers and school choice is that there will be a plethora of different schools with different methods

schools can choose whatever method they want and parents can send their kids to whatever school they want, as long as the kids know how to read, write and do math by 12th grade at a globally competitive level its all good

i dont know what is obvious about what im saying, in fact a lot of people vehemently disagree with what i just stated and demand that all schools be public and to have a strict separation between public and private, i think the lines should be blurred or eliminated, if that was obvious that it should be this way then my bad, im glad we all agree on ending the public school system

I like what he has to say overall and more importantly he's putting a lot of the ideas to use and actually starting business and opportunities in the black community. In my opinion the economic foundation is not focused on enough in the black community and we relay more on cosmetic progress such as black politicians who many times do not have the power or desire to make positive changes for blacks.

exactly , not just sitting around judging black youth or complaining about education.

Only with a changed mentality can we progress- As you stated, black politicians do not have the desire or power.

Most of the posters in this very thread support every idea about Western Imperialism and feel that an adoption of economically oppressive ideas will benefits blacks the most.

not really, the people that conducted the slave trade may have had little education compared to today, but relative to other people or even other europeans they were very much educated

the technology of reading and writing is one of the most powerful technologies ever invented and is what gave europeans huge advantages, even if only the captain of a ship and some accountants in london could read and write that was a huge advantage

in other words it wasnt wealth from the slave trade that educated the europeans, it was education that allowed them to conduct the slave trade and in turn accumulate wealth, the fundamentals of their wealth is being able to read and write more than other populations

imo black people need to make a cultural shift, just having a disdain for higher education that comes out on in some the posts in this thread is dangerous

whats your level of education?
