How come Taylor Swift doesn’t have the same mass appeal to the Black community that previous white singers had?

We don’t have MTV anymore so I can’t even tell you what pop songs are popular right now. And the radio is much less prominent now than when we were kids so we don’t have the same exposure.

I think it comes down to white people working with black producers like Justin Timberlake, Justin, Bieber, and Ed Sheeran.

She doesn’t usually have features or use black producers from what I see but she has a bunch of people know

Lover
Shake it off
Bad Blood
Blank space
Antihero

Actually, she has a lot of songs I know now that I think about it.

her music is mid and an offshoot of country which is the lowest form of music that requires the least amount of skill.

people respect skill even if it's from a cac and she really doesn't have it. her appeal is she is a semi basic white girl and that's why her fans are the same.

if she had an amazing voice or could dance or made real pop music that appealed to all and not just the demo of teenage girls and young women, she'd have more broad appeal.

either way it's working out for her because there are lots of basic white bytches (who also have husbands and boyfriends getting dragged to these concerts) in this country to sell tickets to.

The same can be said for hip-hop lol

Brittaney and Madonna did.

I distinctly remember that “I didn’t know I couldn’t talk about sex” song getting urban radio play

And for Brittaney she had a few songs that crossed over but the biggest I remember was Toxic. EVERY STATION played that joint

I’m not sure about Gaga. I remember Poker Face being a big hit on the MTV countdowns back when that still meant something

Taylor Swift is as vanilla as they come. She’s not meant for “us” nor does she need “us”. Brittaney Spears had a time where she was following Justin’s lead and working with the Neptunes and other popular black producers. She had black background dancers, black models, and even black “love” interests in her videos. Lady Gaga was supposed to go on tour with Kanye at one point in her career. A lot of white pop stars had a moment where they at least flirted with getting a black audience. Taylor never did, because she never had to. She’s literally America’s dream of what a white woman is which represents Black America’s nightmare. I know she’s worked with people like Ice Spice and Kendrick Lamar but that was never her crossing into a black sound. No R&B, no Jazz, no funk, not even really any Hip Hop elements. They were crossing over to HER

Gaga had Telephone produced by Darkchild which featured Beyoncé.
She also had the controversial Do What U Want with R. Kelly and the demo of bytch, Don't Kill My Vibe with K. Dot which featured her.

I don't know if they received urban play but the first two songs were popular.

for me personally it's because I 100% don't get it
she's not attractive at all compared to the others
she's like McDonald's for singers
like you can tell she is 100% for basic white women and that's cool.
but the media won't shut the fukk up about her. like if you don't like her something's wrong with you
put me In the crazy house then :russ:
that tweet is case in point. Like who would ask basketball players this question?
Go ask hockey players what their favorite Beyonce song is
oh they won't because we have to worship Taylor Swift all year:deadrose:

and she has tried countless times to engage with the black market. it doesn't work. in fact we know it's not genuinie so a majority of us don't fukk with her because of it.
No one remembers her attempt at September. They don't want you to :sas2:
her latest one is clinging onto ice spice for dear life
yes it's a symbiotic relationship but she knows what she's doing

Britney, Madonna, gaga, etc. All

Had club songs that could appeal to any demographic, including black people

Also leveraged sex appeal in rebellious that would also appeal to black people

Had no problem collaborating with black singers/producers. Some of them even praised some as being influences musically

And also, Paramore sang in the church when she was young so there's some soul in her voice when she sangs. Ain't it fun :ahh:

Taylor got some catchy hooks but no soul or any kind of black influence in her music. These other white singers at least flipped the channel to BET/Hot 97 once in a while.

Y'all see now why Aretha said what she said

"Nice gowns"

Also, Madonna and Britany were on MTV, which was a major focal point on pop culture in America.

Madonna helped MTV become what it was.

Young Madonna was a sexual icon too.

A lot of young girls idolized her in the 80s and 90s.

Taylor does not appeal to as wide of an audience. She definitely captures the white girl "Live, Laugh, Love" "Pumpkin Spice" crowd but that's it
