How come Ginuwine didn't become a bigger star?

I thought Tim decided it was more lucrative to give Timberlake Ginuwine's songs.

That never haopened. Nothing Timbaland created for Justin was ever pre-made for Ginuwine. The reason it sounds similar is because Tim just adapted his formula for Ginuwine to fit Justin. Justin wrote his own songs to Timbaland's production up until the 20/20 Experience where James Fauntleroy co-wrote every song.

This thread isn't rocket science...Ginuwine got maximum support from the black audience but outside of Pony barely got that MTV Z100 pop love

Basically the 90s version of Keith Sweat with not as many hits

Ginuwine being Keith Sweat
Usher being Bobby Brown

This. Ginuwine was an R&B star, while Usher was a Crossover Pop star.

My way launched Ushers career..but Confessions solidified him as a major star and JD produced on and Executive produced that whole joint. If we are talking why Usher is who Usher is now...its the Confessions album.....and he penned the album's lead sing is which undisputably one of Ushers most successful singles......give credit where its due...

My Way didn't launch Usher. It re-established his career as he was rebounding from a flopped debut. Pretty much saved him. It's the Usher album that JD was most hands on with.

"Yeah" was the lead to Confessions and JD had nothing to do with that song. Lil' Jon produced it and Sean Garrett wrote it. The JD produced songs were written by Brian Michael Cox.

Also it's ridiculous to say that "Confessions" made Usher a major star when he previous 2 albums each went 4-6x Platinum and were full of crossover Pop hits.

Ill put it this way, Confession solidified Usher as a star with staying power.

Ginuwine & timbaland stopped working together years before timberlake came in the picture.

Ginuwine started droppin classics like "my whole life" with other producers, and I think timbaland was feeling some kinda way. all this was while timberlake was still in NSync.

and lol @ the thought of Ginuwine doing most of those timberlake records. that pop chit would've killed Ginuwine's career.

Ginuwine and Tim didn't fall out until 2009. By 2002, Ginuwine was becoming more of an artist. He was doing things on his own. Justin came into the picture in '02 like one year after Ginuwine and Tim's last collaboration ("That's How I Get Down" feat. Luda). Ginuwine continued to jave hits: "Stingy", "In Those Jeans", "Hell Yeah", "Differences" and his feature on "I Need A Girl Pt. 2", his albums weren't as good and definitely not as cohesive as they were when Tim was helming them. They weren't as successful either.

Meanwhile, Tim went on to produce Missy's biggest album and hit, helped blow Tweet up with "Oops" and "Call Me". He gave Petey "Raise Up" and Bubba took off with "Ugly". Then there was Luda's "Roll Out". Brandy tapped him to helm her album.

He didn't write "most" of Ginuwine's shyt. He wrote some of it. Ginuwine said out his own mouth that what a lot of people don't know about him is that he wrote a lot of his own hits and music.

Nah Breh. Static wrote damn near all of Ginuwine's first two albums, as well as most of the songs Aaliyah did with Timbaland. Got plenty of cats out here that can vouch for that.

BE SMART SON.

2009 is when Ginuwine spoke on it. he said tim started acting funny during the time period that I gave, and they havnt worked together since then - which you just said yourself.

I'm not arguing what albums weren't better, but his albums after timbaland weren't geared towards sales. they were more serious r&b and that's when he dropped most of the tracks that solidified his legacy.

I didn't ask you what timbaland went on to produce breh. whats your point?
