Thought the dude had a pretty solid run from what 95 until 2005 and had some solidified gems and albums in there.

Usher just had more going for him. Mostly Jermaine Dupri in his corner. Say what you want about the man, he is a fukking beast on them boards and with that pen.

Much more then Timbaland or Dre could ever be(with the pen game at least....:usure:)

Switch both artist with their star producers and I bet Ginuwine would have had the better career

highest selling doesnt equate to a peak.

of course it sold the most. hes Michael Jackson, coming fresh out the '80s - which he owned. but don't go out of bounds and call it the best new jack album.

all the classic albums from guy, mary j, the new edition family tree, keith sweat, SWV, etc etc and all the classic rap chit that came from that.......and you gonna sit up here & say that flabby mike jack dropped the goat new jack swing album?

yall need to cut that chit all the way out man. I cant even respect no chit like that.

song sounds very TRL-ish.

I don't know. maybe it would sound completely different if Ginuwine sung it.

Michael was never flabby

Genuine was only like 25 or 26 when pony came out he wasnt old

that was considered old for a new artist.

he avoided speaking on his age for a reason breh.

Michael was never flabby

please stop.

I hate when people revise history for the deceased.

Ginuwine is a good singer I give him that, but he was just the one of the many "good singers" that were in the game back when R&B was in it's prime. I can bring up a bunch of underrated R&B singers, e.g. TQ, Ali, and even Mario (who is a one-hit wonder).

Ginuwine was huge breh.

Mario had a good run of 7 or more years.

how was he a one-hit wonder?

Ginuwine and JD would not have meshed well together at all. JD is dope, but he you're overrating him here. For starters, outside of My Way, JD was not the sole reason Usher had continued success. There was Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Lil' Jon and others.

My way launched Ushers career..but Confessions solidified him as a major star and JD produced on and Executive produced that whole joint. If we are talking why Usher is who Usher is now...its the Confessions album.....and he penned the album's lead sing is which undisputably one of Ushers most successful singles......give credit where its due...

My Way didn't launch Usher. It re-established his career as he was rebounding from a flopped debut. Pretty much saved him. It's the Usher album that JD was most hands on with.

"Yeah" was the lead to Confessions and JD had nothing to do with that song. Lil' Jon produced it and Sean Garrett wrote it. The JD produced songs were written by Brian Michael Cox.

Genuine is what he was supposed to be... he was a "grown man" in the 90's... Usher was a teenager so he had a longer time to be in the game, not to mention Usher is a baby face (no homo) so we never really knew when he hit his 30's

Not true Confessions one and 2 were both written by JD and were the lead singles off of the Confessions album. And again JD executive produced the album. My way did Launch Ushers career as a valid baleteer...we all know how Puffy gave Usher to JD to mold his sound. Which JD...molded his swag...sound...and style
..My Way was Ushers introduction to a majority of America. He had some subtle success up until then...but that album catapulted him. JD was the genius behind that breh.

Its like you not knowing who JD is.....as a "producer" my self I can recognize genius and give props....

"Yeah" leaked in like January of 2004. It picked up steam with ATL DJ's and then blew up around the rest of the world. They pushed the album up beacuse of the success of that single. "Confessions" was the third single with "Burn" being the follow up. "Yeah" was the lead single. This is fact. It is Usher's biggest single and catapulted Usher and that album into what ot was. JD kept the hits coming with "Burn", "Confessions", and "My Boo" and helped Usher set and break records, but "Yeah" is Usher's biggest song to date.

I never discredited JD's involvement in My Way. It wasn't his launch though. It is the album that blew him up after an unsuccessful launch with his debut.

JD gets props, but you're still overrating him to the degree that he isn't solely responsible for Usher being Usher.

uhh yea

that album was just aiird. a lot of better stuff was poppin at the time.

he was clearly on the downside and even the industry knew it. that's why they gave him that goodbye awards run, and he hasn't won chit since.

My Way didn't launch Usher. It re-established his career as he was rebounding from a flopped debut. Pretty much saved him. It's the Usher album that JD was most hands on with..

:dahell:

if his debut album flopped, them how da hell was he re-establishing himself on the 2nd album?

in order to re-establish yourself, you have to be established first.

I'm not gonna say "soley" responsible but hes the main catalyst.

look at usher before JD
and look at usher after JD
both meh & forgettable

JD and Usher's chemistry hasn't been the same since Confessions. He's been a part of two other Usher albums since then and nothing notable came out of it. Usher's made some dope songs since Confessions and his last good album was possibly Lookin 4 Myself.
