lol....I'm seeing narratives in this thread I've NEVER heard before in life.

I've never heard anyone refer to JD as a biter. This dude came out with KRiss Kross, Da Brat, Bow Wow, etc. As a producer, he never did anything amazing to my ears, but his sound was never bitten from anyone else.

I coudl be wrong if someone can provide some examples.

I will also say that Usher low key sold alotta records off Confessions based on a lie. He was running around sayin those songs were based on a true story then finally admitted they weren't after the album sold mad records n shyt. Lol had people mad gassed thinkin the shyt was about Chili.
 exactly. alotta nikkas do that on purpose i think it's lowkey a mainstream industry tactic. Like how some nikkas pop shyt, boost hype, then apologize after the fact like they ain't know what they was doin :troll:

Confessions was the first RnB album I ever bought and I was like 18 at the time, that and Alicia's album. Then "my boo" dropped at the bottom of 2004. Man that shyt was EVERYWHERE. Dude had a collector's edition come out, and a movie with the new songs. Had Joy Bryant and my nikka Clifton Powell in that shyt :pachaha:Had like 5 music videos come out on top of that, and this album was coming off of 8701 which was huge in 2001. When an artist's last album was huge everyone automatically checks for the next one. Like imagine 2 years from now if you hear kendrick's working on some shyt. The whole country/world will be like :lupe:

And his first single had
melyssa-ford-yeah-o.gif

Usher just made the right moves in succession. Maybe it was him or his team, or he had a larger machine behind him. Arista was :eat:

What is this revisionist history? White People love PONY. Women still to this day go crazy when that song comes on. One of the biggest movies catered to women, MAGIC MIKE, used PONY heavily in it's marketing campaign. Ginuwine was a HUGE star in the 90's and early 2000's. ALL WOMEN -- BLACK, WHITE, HISPANIC, ASIAN, love/loved Ginuwine.

He just made music

  • He didn't have a huge feature run. Not enough features on hit songs. I think features count i mean look at Lil Wayne. Dude's star only got brighter when he was everywhere during that 2004-2011 run. Alotta people disregard/underestimate features. Even future has a big fanbase cause he was the dude on the hook for alotta records that were everywhere...

:lupe: I been wanting to do a thread about the amount of features artists like Lil' Wayne, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, & etc. have done in their careers compared to artists when I was growing up in the late 90's-mid 00's. I feel like back than artists mostly did features with only artists on the same label. Def Jam did this a lot.

He was huge what are you taking about? How old are you:what:
Thank you. These dumb ass threads from these uninformed kids who weren't even around or alive when shyt was popping acting like armchair A&Rs 20 years later. Ginuwine was a huge star. The thing about that time was there were about 4-5 others also. You know when R&B music was worth a fukk.

EDIT: I think it was "are you a fan?" and "are you a hater?"

the fan ad had a red background and the hater ad had a blue one

Now I know u have no idea wtf u talkin bout so I don't have to respond to u any further.

No you don't have no idea what you are talking. MJ ripoffs have been around since he appeared on the scene. Talking about he wore a fedora so he brought back MJ style. nikka please. Tevin Campbell is closer to MJ then Ginuwine. And why are we so quick to proclaim so and so is like so and so? Ginuwine was a unique, original artist thanks to Timbaland. And he still isn't seeing Usher

:wtf: JR Smith? Word?.

My nikka made Pony...Same Ol G...Differences...In Those Jeans...His first 2 albums were underrated classics. At least give the homie an all-star player.. Usher/Ginuwine was a legit argument in 90s :rudy: Dont shyt on homie like that.

I tell you what...you drop Pony at a party today and it set shyt off harder than any Usher record.

Ginuwine is T-mac...had a spark when he started then...you know...but before his back and knees gave out, T-mac or Kobe was a legit conversation. So was Usher/Ginuwine

Matter fact, I remember that joke on Steve Harvey show where Steve said something about Regina listening to Usher and she was like :camby:its all about Ginuwine

That counts:ufdup:

Yes. Like JR smith he had good games but never consistent throughout the season. Ginuwine had hits. Usher had albums. Confessions is the R&B album of our generation. Does Ginuwine have that? Is Ginuwine still putting out music? And this isn't me saying Ginuwine is trash. nikka just wasn't as good as Usher

nikka are u retarded? Tevin Campbell was marketed as a young MJ by Quincy jones himself VOCALLY. But that shyt switched as soon as he hit his growth spurt. But it was VOCALS that was compared. I'm talking about dancing with Ginuwine. He was a damn MJ impersonator before he got on. He came in the game doin MJ moves n shyt and ain't no solo RnB artist was doin that shyt in the mid 90s. Like I said. U have NO IDEA what the fukk u talkin bout. Ain't u the same nikka who said Mario 64 wasn't groundbreaking? If not forgive me but if u are..Lol man fukk outta here u wrong about damn near everything u talk about.

:ehh: I'm surprised nobody else brought this up being a major factor.

That's what these nikkas don't understand. Just cause he wasn't the TOP selling RnB artist. He was still a big artist and there was a lot to choose from back then. shyt Jay Z was never the highest selling rapper. But to deny he was a big artist is stupid.
