Its all HBO trying to get more exposure for their old shows and make some cash and Netflix is saying sure what you got and for how much.
According to sources, this is a financial move. We hear HBO veterans pushed back against the plan but corporate financial consideration won out.
On the other hand, there is hope that putting HBO shows on Netflix would give them additional exposure, reaching new global audience.

Everyone is going to have a major content drought though. I'm not sure why you are singling out Netflix when it was OG HBO who said stop associating us with all that Max Original stuff with a few exceptions. With OG HBO back to running their own shop and with how they are with quality control you are not getting anything Succession level for years with this writers strike. At least Netflix can still supplement whatever they are missing stateside with all the foreign stuff that won't be affected by the strike.Exactly, its not really a bad move for HBO/Warner to give them old content. Netflix has a major content drought, so whether or not MAX is a true netflix killer has yet to be determined.
I see this as a way to market Max to new customers
it doesn't really affect me right now.
they should honestly do it with the last of us before season 2 comes out
