Has Nas recent run of excellence put him ahead of Jay-Z on your all-time list?

If he isn't already ahead of him, or did he just strengthen his G.O.A.T. of all time position?? because i've always gone back and forth between the two, as far as who's higher on the list, but since Nas been on this run, he's UNQUESTIONABLY better than Jay in my eyes. not to mention, i expect Life Is Good to be nothing short of 4 mics at least.

Nas recent run:

Distant Relatives album (it's what started his run imo)
Verse on Champion
Verse on Ghetto Dreams
Like Smoke
The Don
Daughters being his best single and video in a decade
Verse on Kings and Queens
Verse on Tha Carter IV Outro
Verse on This Thing Of Ours
Verse on Feel Inside
Nasty
Verse on Running
Verse on Something
Verse on Chain Glow
Verse on Triple Beam Dreams
:wow: :wow: :lawd:

I think that is it, but i might be missing something
add accident murderer on this list and make a mixtape fan some of us are hungry!!

Jay isn't even on my GOAT list:

1. Kool G Rap
2. Nas
3. Big Daddy Kane
4. Rakim
5. KRS-One

That, plus Illmatic very well being the GOAT hip hop album and being much better than Reasonable Doubt (which is an undoubted classic, but not GOAT record) has had him ahead of Jay since the get-go.

I hate these arguments.

Whoever like Nas is going to like Nas. Same with Jay. Where ever they are at on people's LIST is where they will stay.

This is subjective. Both are legends so there is no need to downplay one artist's accompishments to praise the other.

^This

It'll never stop though, which is shame. They are two of my favs, and I'll just leave it at that.

I don't think the OP was asking is Nas better than Jay or has this changed their impact on the game.

Fact is in 2012, 18 years after his debut, Nas is still spitting with hunger and dedication. You can't make a strong argument for Nas ever falling off. Sure hes stumbled at moments in his career but all in all Nas has been Nas.

Jay on the other hand, appears to not really care anymore. You could see it when he dropped Blueprint 3. That was almost his way of saying "I'm done". He didn't update his content, then with Watch The Throne Kanye almost carried him the whole album. Every time Jay drops a new album he threatens that it's going to be Reasonable Doubt Jay. Never is, I don't think he could do it even if he wanted to without ghostwriters.

Jay will always be above Nas though. But in 2012 as far as skills, Nas is clearly the better rapper.
