Education is still very important in terms of earning higher income HOWEVER people should major in things that will earn them money that would allow them to pay back their investment on education and then some. There are too many people going to college for degrees which will not earn them a good income and it's not a coincidence that those degrees tend to be the least challenging (i.e sociology, English, psychology etc).

It's only an American phenomenon where parents tell their kids that going to college is sufficient or that the college experience is important. I have tutored HS kids in math from immigrant backgrounds (i.e Asians, Africans, and Middle Easterns) the parents determine or steer the kids toward a specific field and those fields are the ones that earn a lot of money and in which there will always be a market for. The idra of going to college for social development or the experience to make new friends is totally secondary or even non existent. They see college as literally a preparation for the workforce.

Black people have been duped into thinking they were making it. A "black " President. Professional sports teams dominated by African Americans, Africans or Afro Latinos. Popular culture heavily influenced by hip-hop, an aesthetic created and still heavily curated by black people. We are the "IT" people of this world, yet we are at the bottom in every respect.
