Indeed. Black folks, after centuries of oppression, are beginning to earn (tho still trailing our peers) more, but we're doing it at a time where cost of living is through the roof, so the wealth gap is still huge

Its hard out here for young black brothers especially those that come from terrible parents/ households...they in for a very rude awakening... I'm seeing it with my young nephews ...they lost in the sauce....they were very coddled and then turned 18 and expected to go out and get "it" with absolutely no kind of skill set whatsoever and no real ambition other than to rap....its gonna get ugly for them and many others with similar mindsets....

All those net worth / wealth statistics are more about assets than actual salaries. Ie Black man with advance degree makes 80k year no tangible assets has less wealth than white man with no degree making 40k and a 400k home given to him by his parents

The kid with the 400k house is more valuable. He can borrow from that house and start a business. He could turn that in 300k a year especially if he knows the banker as he is white and probably have a relationship with someone in banking. That having someone close to you makes a difference as well

should still be making more than 15k a year working a warehouse job.At some point you have to ask yourself why packing and sorting boxes is the limit of your skill set...
If enough people felt that way, they would.
Fact is its not viewed as more valuable than that, and automation will do away with it in the next 10yrs anyway...
Truth is, just being alive and gaining employment isn't enough to secure comfort, you need to take education seriously.

It's all about generational wealth most African Americans had grandparents that lived through Jim crow era, blacks were overtly treated as second class citizens. It takes two generations of success for children to reap benefits of any kind of familial success.
Blacks also missed out on real estate inflation of the 1990s and 2000s, plus we didn't have the wealth to benefit from the tech boom.
I have friends that were dropping 500k on apartments when we started medical school, some where straight paying out of pocket. Turns out all it takes is to have grandparents with good white collar jobs and two professional parent household.
