I feel like this is some right leaning ideology. That crime in NYC is bad because it's a liberal city when we have some of the lowest crime of any big city
The average New Yorker you speak to thinks it’s like the crack era or some shyt. :snoop:

in the 00s we were raising hell on the trains. thank god they don't have cameras. the amount of degenerate behavior we engaged in would go viral in 2k24 :mjlol:

So many out of towners talking shyt about the city on IG or any of these apps due to the crimes. It’s bad everywhere, it’s just that the subways are a hub for homeless people. The pandemic made things worse for everyone, and some need help for mental health.

Above the fray.
So fixing the economy is gonna stop some idiots from assaulting people of subways??
:what:
Nah, that's one of the standard deflections in threads about crime and public safety.

The final straw that likely pushed through this announcement was the Black MTA conductor being slashed in the neck and almost murdered a few days ago. Most people in this metro area saw/heard about that story. And MTA brass making public plea for the city to protect them as that had been the latest in a series of attacks.

"The economy" ? Yeah, right.

what I'm saying is the National Guard option is all optics since the measures they took in theory shoulda been working. If 2 cops on most stations and cops going through the cars isn't curbing this crash test dummy stuff, the National Guard ain't either. The state knows that, which is why they'll just have them where they already sometimes are and not where it's worth trying.

Now this fukkboi right here? He lacks the wherewithal to go "oh shyt, lemme not wild out right now"

and let's just say, crime does decline. We all want that. But then the National Guard has to go do more important shyt and you're left with the same officers that were around when all this crazy shyt was happening. Then what?
Their is not cops at every station, it's damn near impossible.

Legitimately curious...let's say the NG actually witness a crime about to go down...do they have the legal authority to make an arrest? Or is their presence strictly deterrence based?

3 people shot & killed on the trains in the past couple months (two within a 2 week period, both in the Bronx) and a MTA conductor got his neck slashed last week. Something NEEDS to be done.

"The subway has a daily ridership of approximately 3.2 million and bus has a daily ridership of 1.4 million, representing 58% and 63%, respectively, of pre-pandemic ridership levels."

it's bad but it's literally fearmongering. it's still the safest public transportation system in the U.S. people are more likely to die in a road rage shooting than on a NYC subway. a lot of these random attacks are committed by people with mental health issues and i fail to see how the national guard is the solution to addressing that.

Breh, respectively do you live in NYC or rise the subways daily?

Because the workers & daily commuters will tell you otherwise.
