The season before was was a debatable race. Had Jokic did all he did this year, without already being crowned two MVPs, do you think he’d be getting as much pushback? The pushback comes from his previous two moreso than this one. This is his most clear and away deserving MVP just based on the metrics and having his team number one in the west. LeBron is a polarizing figure on this board. Whether he doesn’t get the same pushback that Jokic gets specifically for his race, doesn’t mean there haven’t been worthy black MVP winners who haven’t had their winning be delegitimized or questioned. Again, I think the defense of Jokic has much to do with ppl just being fed up with militants, more than anything and just wanting to appear super objective compared to the typical race arguments. Damn near every player who has won MVP(black or white) has had their award delegitimized because of an underwhelming post season run. And these are guys who only have one MVP to their name. Again, nobody is really jumping to Westbrooks defense. The consensus(on this board and outside of it) seems to be that he statpadded his way to an undeserved MVP. How much more hate is Jokic getting over past winners relative to the acclaim he gets from media and voters? :jbhmm:
Agreed. I had Jokic 3rd last year. This year I'd give it to Jokic. I'm more annoyed by all the counter outrage going on. As I've said on here before NOBODY in the media had a word to say about Giannis being written off for a 3rd MVP due to his lack of playoff success the previous two years. No matter what numbers he put up from early in the season it was basically agreed upon that he couldn't win MVP. Now that people are saying Jokic shouldn't win for the same reason now everybody is all up in arms. It's weird how it just happens to be white players that the rules get rewritten for. Only thing worse is that Jill-Scott broad that will defend anything Jokic related.

That was the OP. It just stated the case for Giannis. It mentions Jokic and Embid the other two popular contenders for MVP. Please point out the hate. Not everyone is going to automatically crown Jokic MVP. Y’all treating this shyt like he Jesus and no one shall speak against him. We already know he is going to win it but that doesn’t mean other players aren’t making a case to be the MVP.
This is hilarious.

You're basically telling on yourself with this.

If you're of the opinion that you believe he's going to win, then quite clearly you're acknowledging threads like this are hate. How has this escaped you? I don't know why you cats wanna try and play dumb like others can't see what y'all are doing. You can't even be honest with yourselves about not wanting Jokic to win - at least stand on that, at least it would be respectable instead of all these other loops you're trying to throw everyone off with.

ABC coded ass language ass bullshyt.

As I've been saying for the longest, y'all folks don't really love hoops like that. You're in love with whatever storyline matches up with your bias and bullshyt.

There's been pushback the last two years when he won purely because folks don't like seeing a fat white boy dominate the league. It's why they invent strawmen and these hollow talking points to back their position. You obviously haven't been paying enough attention to what's been said on this board.

:mjlol::dead:

The bullshyt y'all tell yourselves.

The defense of Jokic is about defending someone who is deserving of winning. No different to anyone else who would be defended if they deserved to win. This is some gaslighting ass shyt you're doing here. As if Jokic's play didn't fall off or another candidate played better we'd start ignoring the reality of it. That's the entire point to shedding light on these keyboard militants' behavior, is that they're not living in this reality. They're living in one they conjured up in their own rockheads.
I gotta disagree here man. What player in the last 10 years hasn’t had their MVP candidacy questioned? Let Steph Curry win 3 in a row, we’ll hear diatribes about how the 3 is overrated and how there’s a bias towards new age outside focused shooters and voters “hate traditional PGs”. Let LeBron win 3 in a row, we’d hear nothing but “LeStan media, LeDisney”(from coli users and white ppl who hate bron outside of this forum). This isn’t gaslighting, this shyt is the truth. Winning 3 in a row is “rarified air” as they say. Literally ANY player is gonna get some pushback. You’re acting like you didn’t grow up in the “voter fatigue” era like the rest of us. Yes militants exist, but like the GenZ say “two things can be true at the same time”. Brehs fan hate Jokic because he’s fat and white. But get this. Brehs can also question his MVP candidacy and question how voters vote, and question criteria, and question and question and question, all they want, because these questions are legit. It just seems hypocritical as fukk, when past MVP players have had their shyt pushed in by the media and on the coli for not exceeding expectations relative to how they were rewarded in the regular season. For folks to all of sudden NOW see things “objectively” and with non narrative driven glasses for Jokic, is definitely questionable. Again, by all metrics Jokic winning MVP this year is deserved. But the thing is, why are ppl NOW(the last 3 years) starting to vote based on a reasonable criteria? Last year Jokic won because he was leading his team to way more wins and a higher seeding than they should’ve gotten. Again, we’ve seen all time greats carry bums to high seeds they had no business getting to. But “best player, best team” ruled the day. But again, folks gave Jokic the MVP anyways based on these changing criterias. This year they got Murray back, and they’re the one seed. Now it’s “see look, he has them top of their conference”. Again, we’ve seen past players carry their teams to conference leading standings, and still miss out on the award. Seeing a player winning mvp 3 times on 3 different criteria should definitely raise questions. It’d be the same if it was “black wife/black family” LeBron winning 3 in a row. Let’s be real now!

You’re proving my point though. This same narrative driven storyline mentality on this forum has been used on here to delegitimize black MVP winners in the past. What makes Jokic any different? Militants gonna militant but he’s gonna get these questions and expectations like everyone else!! My point!!!

"era of Embiid" lmao

My bad I should have said era of jokic, embiid, giannis, Luka. All foreign players who got MVP on lock for the next ten years. And you laughing like he doesn't have numbers and yet he and giannis are the best defensively while producing offensively as well. How's it funny that he's an MVP candidate?

Right! NOW there’s objectivity. NOW there’s logic being applied to the voting. Back then, it was “we just can’t give a guy 3 in a row! Did you see his underwhelming post season run last year!?!” It was based on feelings and the previous years post season and expectations. :dead:

They're about to start an MVP campaign for Tatum if the Celtics win tomorrow. These dudes are shameless.

Went from KD to Embiid to Giannis because they can't accept a pudgy Euro-cac is playing the best basketball.
Why are y’all like this? Jokic already has TWO MVPs to his name!!! In what universe has voter fatigue not been applied to black players? Stop being weird!!! Jokic is getting literally the same treatment all time greats like Bron, MJ, and Steph had gotten. Y’all gotta stop!!

Answer a question for me. Do you think he would be in the conversation for 3 straight mvps if he was black? :jbhmm:

Keep in mind, most these voters are bill simmons esque cacs that hopped off giannis as soon as a more attractive option became available.

There's no objectivity, because we all know why this board is plotting against him to win. They did the same shyt last season. If you're not privy to what has been said over the last few seasons, than it's probably best just to sit this one out.

Just ignore the last 25-30yrs to defend legit questions on MVP voting. Act like these questions came out of thin air just to disparage Jokic. Act like they’ve never ever, ever, had the same questions for non-euro MVPs. :mjlol:
