Giannis Antetokounmpo should now be in the lead for MVP. 🦌

Have you seen the Greek team? It’s not that easy to “just” medal lol, this is a weird thing to put on him when he’s the only NBA player on those teams.
He hasn't even reached semis and I watch international tournaments every year. Greek squad on paper never been a complete trash, regardless of how many of them are in NBA.

He lost to Germany multiple times when Germany never had a strong big man presence. He got two rebounds against Germans in Olympic quarterfinals.

Germany has been a very well rounded team for awhile now though. Two rebounds isn’t an excuse but that Greek team has a decent PG but besides that nobody else who can make an impact even at the international level.

Calathes and Walkup being decent Euroleague players. Papanikolau from Olympiacos still decent in Europe as well.

My point is at some point there should have been a game where Giannis willed his team to the medal game.

Even Poland with no names managed to stun Europe by beating Luka's Slovenian team.

I remember in Eurobasket 2022 they had a good squad beating teams such aa Croatia or Italy in the group. Then they beat no name Czechia by couple points and lost to germans again when it came to knockout stages.

Attemptafreethrow got the single most coddled game by the NBA referees but since he only shoots like 60% at the line people dont complain as much about it

Really no surprise he struggles in international play with fewer whistles
