Yup..they're non threatening like black women... The worst thing u can be is a dignified heterosexual black in the work place
I'm sick of ppl saying black women have it easier.Black men are paid 75% of what white men are.Black women,64%.

As for the study,it says nothing on what happens in reality. What ppl will say in a cutesy, simulated reality Create-Your Own-Workplace type study environment might not be a reflection of everyday life.I'd like to see actual data on how homosexual black men fare.

Why do you think this is?

Like I said before, many of them view themselves as gay first and will thus be more dedicated to (or solely focused on) the lgbt movement and, in doing so, will defect from the black community's fight against white supremacy.

OK, but black women are employed at higher rates than black men. They overwhelmingly dominate black men in terms of hiring.

I agree, but I suppose I didn't phrase my question correctly - my bad - why do you think they identify as gay first rather than as black first?

1. I'm basing this off my experience with all the openly gay black men I know (and having lived in Boston and DC, I've come to know MANY gay black men). I'm also basing my response on what I've seen in the media when it comes to gay black men, social movements, and social movements. To clarify, I never said gay blacks weren't for the cause; I'm just indicating that MANY of them have conflicted allegiances.

2. I'm not exoneration straight black men for any failures within the black community. I'm merely pointing out that many straight, qualified black men lose job opportunities to equally-qualified black women and gay black men. And that has a negative impact on black families and on their relationships with black women.

3. I'm saying that ALL black people should be 100% invested in combating white supremacy. If we're not, then any perceived advantages derived from fighting other causes (i.e., LGBT rights) will be for naught because we'll still be black and treated as second class citizens by dominant white society. Case in point: the feminist movement and black women.
Fair. I must say though: theoretically and hopefully, gay rights for all is rights for black people, women's rights are rights for black people and so on. If this is a war, hypothetically speaking, it would only benefit us to fight on many fronts. I don't see having multiple allegiances in this case as necessarily conflicting. There are many types of black people. All I'm saying is the sooner the blame stops, the sooner we can see what we as a people really have to work with and build on.

Considering the expensive cities you've lived in and our times, why should anyone not take advantage of the breaks they're given? Any black person that can benefit from the dominant society should, so long as they bring it back home in some way.

And when you "we" you're talking about straight black men. Though it was second rate, those brothers had decades to get it together and they failed. Not dramtically or through complete fault of their own, but they failed. It's time to stop pointing the finger and pick up the pieces.

Sure, white supremacy is the enemy but excellence is the goal. Awareness of both is crucial. Should we focus on our foe or our felicity?

Oh that I don't know. I would guess because either they feel more connected/united with their gay lifestyle rather than identifying as a member of the black community.

Ok...but I was talking about similarly situated and equally qualified black men and women...
You said black women are hired at a higher rate.If black women are qualified educationally more often, then no wonder they're hired more.
On the other hand, black men and black women of equal education and similar work hours, black men get paid more.

Black men have the advantage.

this is why social science research is stupid

the subjects can figure out what you want... resumes that are the same besides race/sexual orientation :beli:

I'd be like "shieeeet of course I'd give the faggy ones more :troll:"

and this doesn't prove the statement in the title, it's a hypothetical poll done with n = 231

That's a weak ass study

I suppose we're better fighting together as blacks, period. And I do understand that there are different fronts on which to fight yet I still believe that white supremacy is the only enemy worth fighting as black people. Even if we were to fight on different fronts successfully, we'll still experience a disparate impact on the black community. We'll still be seen as black first and, thus, second class. Hence, white supremacy needs to be reckoned with before anything else.

Moreover, I submit to you that black men never had a meaningful opportunity (outside the Civil Rights Movement) to "fix" the black community, mainly due to the feminist movement, welfare, institutional racism, the war on drugs, mass incarceration of blacks, etc. Yet now, it's apparent that women cannot run the black community, which has become a full-fledged matriarchy.

Black men have the advantage.

1. I was focusing on equally-qualified bm and bw; my main point: employers will ALWAYS favor hiring bw over an equally-qualified bm. Hence why bm employment (even including those with collegiate and advanced degrees) pales in comparison to that of bw with similar education, etc.

2. Black men are the last to be hired and first to be fired. What the fukk kind of advantage are you talking about?
