Today's landscape is very different but to enforce your point even more who's this generation's Talib, Common, Lupe, Mos, etc? Every iteration of Rap has always had some dope dudes to balance the genre out yet they're missing today.
Conscious rap is dead as ever.

Then again it was never really that popular tbh, but there was a time in the late 90's and early 00's where it was heavily promoted which how guys like common, blackstar, dilated people, slum village and ultimately Kanye were able to carve a lane/niche while still maintaining respect from the wider hiphop world because most rappers then at least respected the craft.

But yeah that's over with. Why do I say that?

Look at all the shyt that's been happening the past couple of years, yet all you hear on the radio are songs about murder or some bytches talking about using their poosy to obtain funds( please spare me that one lil baby song. That the usually cop out lol ). But hey "they getting to the bag doe":bryan:

Drake was the last legit rap star and he came out over a decade ago

people forget how big rap use to be, it's at it's lowest point ever revenue wise, and influence on the culture

first generation where white rappers can imitate the music black rappers are doing, like jark harlow, and Post Malone too the mumble rappers shyt and went to the room with it

you live in a fantasy world, can't none of these new rappers sell out an arena, NONE OF THEM

True. Blame Future for abusing autotune and Gucci Mane for mumbling all the time.

Interestingly enough, a lot of the Drill dudes of Gen Z are rapping fast paced and using their own vocals. Problem is, they just freestyling, and their songs don't even last a full 2 minutes :martin: . They can't have a long lasting career from freestyles alone, and forget about selling an arena of fans.

Conscious rap been snuffed out by external forces by record labels, especially after "Malcolm X" movie back in 92 made people go full-throttle in pro black thinking. The very next year in 1993, they pushed "Menace II Society" and the way of thinking never recovered since :wow:

Even when Kanye first blew up in early 2004 when he was pro black and had a black GF, he was making people like Slum Village make platinum records. That was snuffed out by late 2005.

That's what I'm saying they make rap for youtube viewers, that's why their songs are so short

the hip hop club scene is dead, it does not exist anymore

that's whole revenue stream cut off

they don't even shoot club scenes in there videos, if they do is a strip club scene, just like a future and 42 dug video, it's some on some strip club shyt, this is what rap has been reduced to, background music in the strip club

It’s over

No Kenny, Drake or Cole walking through that door. By 2014-2015 ish the perfect formula was in place (360 deals) and that’s why you saw such an influx of rappers come out in this era but that was the last push until about 2019-2020, right to when the pandemic hit.

nikkas still gonna get signed and music will be released but the level of quality will be tremendously lowered and we won’t see groundbreaking albums like we did in the 2000s and 2010s and you can blame the labels and streaming platforms for that.

Future gotten that push, as well as Drill music when Blog Era rap peaked in fame in 2012. After they heard K-Dot and Cole blew up, a lot of ignorant people were missing that ignorant energy. That was also when Gucci Mane gotten that 3rd push and NYC Drill rap was coming to form by 2015.

Nowadays, rap videos look low budget as fukk. Just a bunch of malnourished shirtless dudes with guns, rapping in short spurts with no direction. Even strippers are complaining that those Drill dudes not booking them anymore. :heh:

Compare that to when Trap music was poppin from 2005 to 2014. A bunch of IG fake booty thots, random luxury whips like Lambos and Rolls Royces, a ton of money thrown on the screen, and jewelry out the ass.

Raps videos of this era, is mainly for dissing opps in some dusty street corner.

Yeah, ironically, thats how NY and Chicago got popular again: When luxury rap got thrown in the bushes, they mastered the artform of freestyling and making dusty videos with no hoes and guns, and most of them are legit killers that rap for clout. That is why a lot of ATL artists that were of the old trap that was on that Future/ Gucci Mane shyt, are struggling now in 2022 when Drill is the #1 platform for young people.

Rap game done changed. Labels ain’t gone go and find y’all no lyricists to push in the mainstream. That’s the fans job now. Only melodic and drill rappers blowing up and getting signed because that’s who getting the most support on the internet. Every once in awhile people get hype for a Cordae or sum like that. But really don’t see nobody looking for spitters unless they in that no drums old head lane Griselda and them in .

Drakeo The Ruler spent like 3 years in jail and got right out and copped a Rolls Royce Dawn off all streaming. Never signed a deal except a few of his tapes was put out wit Empire. Drakeo was like the biggest flexer on the rap tip I had heard in a minute but now he gone Blue Bucks Clan got that lane and also some of them Detroit rappers be mixing in the flex shyt wit the hustle shyt. But yeaaa outside of that chi, Jacksonville, ny most rap scenes on some kill kill murder shyt

nikka say this every year and then a few emcees sneak into the mainstream.
Isaiah Rashad and Denzel Curry offsprings will be here sooner than you think.
