I don't necessarily agree with him but people are listing a bunch of random ass rappers that don't really have any kind of presence in the mainstream.

Cordae did 20k first week. Rome Streetz probably went double card board.

No hate because I like both rappers but people are confusing "I can find stuff on Google" with "this is the state of rap in 2022".

If the internet ceased to exist tomorrow, and you were left with who is currently rapping in the mainstream....regardless of whether or not you like their music....most mainstream rappers are not actually trying to rap.

Whether or not you care about that....is another topic entirely.

Fred.

Yeah this makes no sense. A lot of nikkas are rapping rn sht just not mainstream (outside a few). The irony of this is nikkas like Gibbs have zero memorable verses. I like gibbs but it's not true rap dying. Sht bigger than ever and everyone got more artists to enjoy. If nikkas want lyricists to come back, get better lyrically
It’s not even about being lyrical for me it’s about rapping just rapping traditionally no melodies, no voice changes, weaving out these sung rapped flows, no auto tune

i mention benny, yall say he's too old

i mention cordae, yall say he flopped

every year someone comes out and says hip hop is dead

It’s clear. There’s really not a lot of young mainstream rappers trying to rap. Most of them are melody based. Closest thing to young nikkas straight rappin we got is NY Drill music but we all know how nikkas feel about that.

he better learn start to writing some memorable verses then because his bars don't stick with you.

he has one verse people care about.
It's sad I think I know the exact verse you're talking about :dead:

the big picture is the fact the art form of rapping has been pushed to the back for autotune crooning in the mainstream. everybody on this message board can find artist to listen to. thats not what the concern is about.

its a young nikka out there riding in the backseat of his mom or dad’s car hearing the radio and there isnt much rapping being displayed through that medium which is still a huge source for casual music listeners. that same music is whats going to influence that young nikka if he eventually becomes an aspiring artist down the road. so what freddie says is 1000% facts. the less rapping being displayed in mainstream hiphop the more its guaranteed it will die.

i dont care for him but cordae is in limbo cus he does not have a real lane in today’s mainstream landscape which isnt fair. the lane is essentially dead.

whats popular is what casual music listeners the ones who move the needle when it comes to sales cares about. us on this board in the grand scheme of things dont matter cus we make up a small percentage of the consumer base.

Link to the bolded

There is no link, rap doesn't generate revenue like it use, rap music use to be the defacto club music for everybody, not anymore, most clubs don't even play rap, rap is mostly played in the strip clubs now, and this where they've been breaking records for last 10 years lmao

When the last time you seen a mogul a rap, a nikka like Master P, Jay-Z, it's been multiple generations and there still hasn't been anything close to Dre, or anything big

Kanye is rich from fashion, he was broke and in debt when he got with Kim
