There’s so many spitters out here that folks don’t care about. I don’t want to believe his tweet, but he might be right. I mean people barely care about the music anyway. You can be the man in January and completely fall off by December:russ: You got to pull antics to get noticed out here. I don’t want to believe his tweet but he might be right:mjcry:

I don't necessarily agree with him but people are listing a bunch of random ass rappers that don't really have any kind of presence in the mainstream.

Cordae did 20k first week. Rome Streetz probably went double card board.

No hate because I like both rappers but people are confusing "I can find stuff on Google" with "this is the state of rap in 2022".

If the internet ceased to exist tomorrow, and you were left with who is currently rapping in the mainstream....regardless of whether or not you like their music....most mainstream rappers are not actually trying to rap.

Whether or not you care about that....is another topic entirely.

Fred.
That shyt is messing rap up to me and has for awhile. Rappers used to have reach with the younger fans that grew with them and older folks. My mama loves Big, Pac, actually met Outkast around the Stankonia days(I’m still jealous) snoop, etc. A lot of these guys now are well known with the youngsters which is not a problem, the older folk don’t care though mostly because their music is not good. The spitters just drop album after album that goes unnoticed or forgotten. I’m interested to see what the future will be like for hiphop.

Cordae, Est, 42 Dugg, Icewear Vezzo, Rome Streetz, Sada Baby, Jid, etc. There’s plenty of rap from people younger than 40. This forum happens to be full of people perpetually stuck in either 2002 or 2012.
I rep detroit wherever I am at but there is a difference between Cordae and 42 Dugg when we talkin bout “rappin”

nikkas sing these days and that’s fine. I can rock with it on most occasions. I just ain’t gonna act like these nikkas can actually rap. That shyt in the mainstream has been successfully killed

Today's landscape is very different but to enforce your point even more who's this generation's Talib, Common, Lupe, Mos, etc? Every iteration of Rap has always had some dope dudes to balance the genre out yet they're missing today.
Exactly there is no balance. I ain’t in high school no more. I can understand the game has room for all styles. But mainstream is completely devoid of any people that can actually rap. No balance.

Dont sleep on Rome Streetz

And the rest of them nikkas be rapping even if they not "lyrical" enough, rapping is rapping. Dugg be getting melodic but the majority of his shyt is that Detroit shyt talking style
Heard Rome Streetz for the first time like last week. shyt was decent i fukked wit it .

I mean....I'm not really complaining as it's cool people can use the internet to find whatever music they're interested in.

But the fact that people gotta look for what they're interested in as opposed to everything getting a fair shake in the mainstream....is a big ass problem.
