There’s very few rappers 25 and under who rap well traditionally or even attempt to but keep posting y’all 40 year old coke rappers :bryan:

I was saying a few years ago we needed a new Camron/Jay-Z when I realised all the newish rappers I like barely rap at all.

Today's landscape is very different but to enforce your point even more who's this generation's Talib, Common, Lupe, Mos, etc? Every iteration of Rap has always had some dope dudes to balance the genre out yet they're missing today.

Dudes on here will tell you they are Polo G, Rylo Rodriguez, Roddy Ricch, Young Thug, NBA Youngboy, and Lil TJay, and all those dudes range from mediocre to straight up ass, and will throw in Cordae just cause he doesn’t straight up stink like the rest of them.

Conscious rap has never been popular
You're not wrong but like he said, there was a time that "conscious" (I hate this terminology) rap could coexist with the mainstream and still be respected mostly because as he also said and is OP's point, you still had to be able to rap. The average mainstream listener would at least know a handful of "conscious" rap songs. Name some now or similar within the last few years.

it's just the way ears work

singing will always be preferred

so if you can get the cultural content you are looking for wrapped in harmony & melody then that's gonna naturally be the first choice

rap will always exist because most people will not be able to sing well but still desire to express themselves

but the hierarchy is permanently set

Hip hop culture will always exist. It’s impact on America is way too big to ever go away. Rap though as we knew it, is gone. It’s just something else now. And no I don’t wanna hear someones best impression of when rap was great. Only new person that’s somewhat decent is Cordae. Other than that, nada

Btw I’m pretty sure I made a thread, a few years ago, saying Drake Kendrick and J cole were the last real super star rappers left. :obama:
