Movie is really good
Reviews look solid. Going to see with my two older sisters (Im 33 and they're 37 and 41) in a couple weeks. It was my middle sisters bday 3 days ago and she was the first one in the family that was given one of these books as a birthday gift from one of her friends. I can remember it clear as day because after I started thumbing through it (I was probably 5 at the time) and I was more excited than she was.

Our parents bought us the second and I remember them copping the third for us when we visited Salem Mass and went to the Witch Trial Museum. They had the last book (with the most demonic cover of the 3 btw) in their gift shop.

These books are so intricately woven into the fabric of our childhood brehs:mjcry:

I really enjoyed it. I wasn't familiar with the source material, so it was all new to me. It wasn't as scary or horrifying as it could have been, but considering the intended audience, I think they came really close to it. What I liked most is the solid plot and characters. It was refreshing for a "horror" movie. Looking forward to the sequel.

I'd give it a 8 out of 10 because I wanted it to be scarier :D

Movie was a throwback to the 80s style of horror. The film was not trying too hard to be serious like these horror flicks coming out on the big screen now.

Not surprised, but elated to hear that all of these stories may get some shine in the form of sequels :blessed:

There was a section in one of the books that were all macabre based humor :picard:

I didn't know if they'd do this justice, as I have a lot of nostalgia about these books. So far the reviews sound good so I'm excited.

Lionsgate done messed they box office numbers by not having a press release(I believe). I think they thought the movie would get bad reviews.

I mean it is based off of a children's book series. Don't let the pictures make you think they are some Stephen King level content in those stories.
Im familiar with the stories. Was probably the only reason for me going to the library when I was younger.
I actually bought the lil box set off Amazon not too long ago.
I think youre right tho.
The stories was good but its the artwork that made the shyts so fukked up!
So id be reading the shyts and imagining that one picture for the story and it would make it that much more creepier/scarier to me.

You do not want to see the newly published books at all. They got another artist to do the drawings and they look more kid friendly.
