Adele is literally a less talented Jill Scott repackaged for white mainstream consumption. They completely stopped playing Jill Scott style (r&b soul) from black artist on mainstream radio, created a void for that kind of music then rolled out Adele to fill the void. Now the black artist who originated and perfected the style she is singing in cannot even get on period.
Tyrese puts out an album of the year candidate yet can barely get play yet Sam Smith selling millions. Jill Scott, Angie Stone etc are on milk cartons when it comes to the mainstream yet Adele breaking records. Badu is reduced to dropping fukking mixtapes

not surprised.....yea, her being white helps, but that aint the only reason she selling like that...she can sing (not like whitney, Mariah, etc, yall really need to chill with those comparisons), makes good music, and her/her people are handling her career extremely well....like others have said they keep her out the spotlight, so it makes people want her more....so as soon as she drops a song, if people like it, they gonna rush to get the album....also, her keeping it from streaming services helped with this number too....she made it that you had to buy the album to listen to it for the most part, which is smart business....
anyway, I wasn't one of those 3.3 million, but i'll be in her second week numbers, copped the album today....and just wait till she drops 'I miss you' as a single, that song gonna be everywhere.....
