It is self defeating from a business standpoint, because they are your cheapest employees and they are usually younger and will be there the longest. Even if some left later on, you could replace them with younger new probationary employees.

If real business men and accountants were handling the downsizing they would sweeten the retirement pot and push out a high number of long serving middle and upper managers, because they are older employees and higher earners.
When I went through Federal contractor layoffs during sequestration. It seemed like they literally just pulled names out a fukking hat. It made zero sense and crippled all kinds of projects. This might actually be worse than sequestration budget cuts. Because you got a week or two to try and get picked up by another contract.

Over the years, they've been gradually replacing federal museum guards in DC with contractor security guards, but at least they're doing it with tact, by letting those guards hang on long enough to retire, then phasing them out with those younger contactor security guards. After reading what you posted, it looks they've gone crazy on everybody else, with this Project 2025.

Worst jobs I ever had was as a Federal contractor. They legit treat contractors like garbage. And job security was non-existent. The minute your salary gets too high you can expect to get laid off.

I'm not sure why Federal workers didn't see this play coming?Especially when they see how contractors get treated. Why join a Federal Union if they couldn't even get those probationary rules changed in 3 decades?

A high percentage of government employees are the laziest and least qualified people around. Working maybe 1/3 the time they should. Trim the fat.

Please, tell us how you arrived at this hypothesis. Or are you just talking out of your ass?

Found the person that works from home, plays with their kid four four hours during their work day, and calls out twice a week. :mjlol: .

Government employees are overall the laziest and least efficient there are.

Ah, I see. You’re just trolling. Never worked from home a day in my life. We don’t have that luxury in ATC. Enjoy the rest of your evening.

So I’m currently at Newport Naval Station working as a contractor for a construction project. I just heard today that some of the engineering techs I work with are on the chopping block - they’re still in their probationary period. However, they’re considered essential personnel because their positions are safety related.
