Trump's executive order tonight has illegally cancelled union contracts for 67% of the federal workforce & 75% of unionized federal employees — roughly 700,000 union workers
This may be the single biggest attack on the labor movement in American history

Trump's egregious union-busting order rests on very shaky legal ground and will certainly be vigorously contested in court

@_ericblanc
This is a do-or-die moment for the whole labor movement
Will organized labor step up to meet Trump's existential challenge head on? Or will unions stick to purely legal challenges, press conferences, and scattered small-scale protests?

If you're a unionized worker looking to fight back, get in touch with your union as well as @FedWorkersUtd

Remember: Reagan's 1981 firing of air traffic controllers was so devastating in part because labor's overall response was so anemic, which signaled to all bosses that they could act with impunity
Unless there's a massive pushback against Trump's EO, all workers will be next

It seems like they are going to spend the entire term in court, losing cases and then writing more illegal EO’s. It’s just a massive waste of taxpayer money and time. Meanwhile other countries around the world have non-aggressive, smoothly-functioning governments that are innovating and catching up or passing us in multiple categories. This is a nightmare

25,000,000 government workers is way tooooo much....

@realdanstilwell
It should be 100%, but 67% is a good start.

@LibertarianLars
Public Servants, should not Collectively Bargain against the Taxpayer. Let the Private market compete for the workers. If you don't like the salary and benefits offered by the Public Job, seek employment in the private sector. Let competition breed excellence not Authoritarian Government. No more Government Unions.

@PreppenWolf
The only question is how quickly can we get rid of the rest?
17/31
@jms_usmc
End public sector unions
18/31
@ZeeCaptainRon
That is a good start, there is zero reason for a union for public employees, they should be "at will", just like the rest of us.
The days of unions are over, thank God and Trump.

@freedom1o1
This is not illegal. They are federal employees. This is not the private sector

I hear fruit needs to be picked.

@EvelynOther
Public sector unions should be abolished. I would be fine with firing all of them. I mean no government at all couldn't be that much worse. We really just need a good team of accountants to send out payments and the rest can be rebuilt from there.

@Jacisbak
Please explain why unions are necessary

I hope they do stand up to it so that Trump can pummel them back into a sitting position. Their days of bullying while inconveniencing consumers are over.
