What can realistically be offered for a coach? Yal already said they couldn't trade him for the Lakers 1st Rounder this year, so what can even be offered that helps this team right now anyway?

Also... has Thibs ever came out and said anything about the Lakers wanting him?

Not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure it was ruled during the Doc Rivers to Clippers situation that coaches cannot be involved in transactions with players, so compensation would have to be draft picks. Lakers have traded away multiple first rounders coming up and rules stipulate you can't trade consecutive first rounders so the next pick they have available to trade isn't until 2019 or 2020 so unless the Bulls want to wait 5+ years for the payoff or accept 2nd rounders this isn't happening.

And none of the teams that want thibs have assets that interest me at all

Again, if it was another option available then sure explore parting with thibs

But there is no one available that is elite IMO and the bulls front office would likely not want to drop a bag for that type of coach if he was available. They likely would try to find a hidden gem like they did with vinny and somewhat with skiles and sell the fan base on them being hard workers or whatever.


Would rather stick with thibs , provide him with a deep roster with some talent and then see what he does. If dude still running guys in the ground then cool :camby: but dudes can't act like jimmer snell Murphy and amundson was all star talent sitting on the bench not getting playing time and cause thibs refused to play them it hurt us winning a ring or something. That's not a offense worthy for coaching change cause those dudes couldn't get minutes

brief history - boston got a 2015 pick for letting doc rivers out of contract. For letting Stan Van Gundy out of contract, miami got a second-round draft pick in 2007 and the right to swap first-round picks in 2008 or another 2008 second-round draft pick and cash.

Points I heard:

Nothing has changed with melo he still being told that melo is leaving

Melo has the rockets lakers clippers and bulls as his top choices

Says melo has been talking to players around the league about changing scenery and what it's like to play for certain teams ( puts a little validity in the rumors of melo asking about thibs)

Says if the bulls fire thibs that closes the door on melo coming to the bulls , it won't happen

Raved about thibs

Says melo not waiting for free agency he researching what's the best fit for him now
