Hoiberg was an exec for Minny, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're cool.
Top 5 pick might be worth it, but I don't know.

he's under contract for 3 more years. thibs can't do shyt unless the bulls FO lets him. and if that happens, I'm sure they'll ask for a pick and make the lakers take boozer last year

Yeah we can lose him but not until we get Melo if its possible. I love Thibbs but there things about his coaching style that I don't like that he won't change IMO. Y'all don't think we could get somebody that keeps the D strategy in place with less silly running people into the ground minutes and using the bench? I'm for keeping him but losing him outside of Melo might not be the worse thing ever

ESPN radio says that the lakers aren't allowed to trade their #1 pick this year. so the most they could do is trade the player they pick after the draft. so it could be dead in the water.
I think lost in all of this is the great relationship with Thibs has with Reinsdorf, who came to his office the night we got eliminated and reportedly both left smiling (Michael Reinsdorf was with him, as well).
