For starters there is a reason why MJ or Kobe or Bron or whatever top 1% of the 1% player you wanna name is who he is. These dudes are special. They are outliers. They were destined to be what they became/are. You can't expect...or rather it's not reasonable to expect dudes that aren't that (aka the overwhelming majority of players) to be that or anywhere near that. People worship these dudes and then ironically underestimate just how special they are. It's like grabbing some 6 year old that won a couple talent shows, beating him, psychologically abusing him, having him live in poverty with 9 other kids, and forcing him to practice all day and then wondering why he's not Michael Jackson. Kwame was a big, athletic kid. He wasn't THAT. And no amount of prodding or flat out bullying was going to change that. If anything, that's on the org for taking him number 1. Says a lot that Pau, aka the best player by far, wasn't even considered.
Also, nikkas gotta stop treating "old school" like it's above reproach. There are a lot of old school things there were and still are effective and necessary. There are a lot that aren't. Just because it's old school doesn't mean it's the best way to go...especially when you are trying to do some new school shyt. You are the first squad to take a HS kid 1st overall and you wanna cling to old school? You gonna be old school, draft a senior and do him like that. Beyond that, some of that shyt sounded like straight sabotage. Sounds like stuff you do with a player that you didn't actually want. I also find it funny that folks cling to "old school" or MJs winnerness but yet turn around and blame Kwame for that shyt not working. If the shyt is so effective and so above reproach why didn't it work with this young physical beast? Why did this team go the way of plenty of other Wizard's teams? It ain't Kwame's job to make the approach work and look good, it's the approaches job to do that for him. Either it's effective and the way to go, or it's not. We got cold hard results.
This all comes down to folks giving MJ that halo and refusing to acknowledge he may have been on some bullshyt and also the fact that it's easier and feels safer to shyt on "scrubs" (that ironically would destroy every single member of this site on any court any where right now even in their flabby stage) rather than going at the big dog.
