The very fact that they are integral parts of all those sports and are basically the default way of talking about them is proof in and of itself. You think ESPN paying millions to retain their whole NFL crew of Ryan, Dan and them just for vibes?
They aren’t the default way of thinking about those sports, well not the NFL. And y’all maybe ever think the tennis or boxing fan is a lot more dedicated to the sport than the average nfl or nba fan? Again, pull up the stats on how those shows do compared to their generalists shows

Consider this:

Most people in Asia and Europe don't watch NBA games. They watch NBA highlights.

You got to give them the "summary" because they aren't watching these games and listening to the commentary.

4PM PST/7PM EST is:
12AM in Nigeria
1AM in France
1AM in Serbia
7AM in China
9AM in Australia/Oceania

You think people following the game like that or are they working, at school or sleeping?
Yes this is very difficult to follow in real time the day to day activities and news (watching games, espn talk shows and league drafts, trades, hiring/firing of general managers, coaches ) of sports leagues from overseas.

Watching games played in completely different time zones is nearly impossible.

When LIVE nba/nfl/nhl/ mlb games are being played at North American Eastern/central/western time, the British, the Nigerians, the Chinese, the Australians are sleeping in the middle of the night or working at their jobs in the morning.

It’s more convenient for them to watch YouTube highlights and rely on internet/ highlights/ blogs etc

International fans (outside of north America)have this excuse. It’s impossible for them to watch live NBA games, because of time zone constraints, so they have to settle for post game YouTube highlights. They have to keep
Up with nba new as much as they can. It’s the next best thing for them. I understand it’s more convenient for international fans in Europe, South America, Africa or Asia to watch YouTube highlights instead of prime time live games broadcasted in western/central/eastern North American time zones.

Local fans in north America, so Canadians and Americans, don’t have this excuse. They have no excuse to not watch live games in their entirety instead of 10/minute YouTube highlights. Watching clips of house of highlights on instagram or TikTok instead is so lazy and casual

How many NBA fans do y’all truly think want this? nikkas ain’t trying to be coaches and 90% of people don’t have the height to play ball at an elite level so wtf they learning this shyt for?
Have you seen the Reddikk/ Bron podcast thread

you got posters like @NYC Rebel claiming that pod is going to transform how the nba is covered
It's crazy because the way pro and college football are covered is a lot closer to each other than the way pro and college basketball are.
Partly NBA Stans Have been told to hate CBB because every team doesn’t run five out and spam step back 3s
Reminds me of BET refused let Little Brothers play their video and perform at 106 & Park, etc because they're too intelligent for the BET audience
They refused to play them cause they’re boring. Theres nothing smart about little brother

:skip: and:unimpressed: are the worst things to happen in the sports media industry. The way they cover sports with thot takes (pun intended), biased narratives, flashy and controversial storylines, reactionary declarations and silly/repetitive open-ended debates ruined sports discourse in my opinion. They dumbed down a entire generation of sports fans.

Chicken or egg question: are skip bayless and Stephen a smith catering to a huge market of low information and low iq casual sports fans with low attention span(really gossip, thot takes and drama addict fans) or they made them that way over the years?

Or there was a market for all this crap already and :sas1: And :skip: just cornered the market?

This.

Ask the average Basketball fan the difference between the Stack and the Princeton offense and they wouldn't know.
They don't watch games for that.

NFL fans dont watch games for that either. But having cursory understanding of the basics and being ready to learn from a pro talking football is something NFL fans are much more conditioned towards. The NBA is a great enough sport worth that level of conditioning too

“When our department examines the NBA, we have to be much more focused on the storyline and vibes … because that drives a lot of this more so for the NBA than any other league,” -from the vice president of brand strategy and content research for ESPN.

:snoop:
Honestly that is basically modern news reporting due to the 24 hours news cycle. Storyline and Vibes over Fact and Analysis.

It’s why as a country we are worst critical thinkers. We don’t consider evidence or even reality anymore. Just what we are told to feel, believe, or think.

A defunct show on a barely functioning network didn’t have it right either. Being Black television was a niche already and BET chose to alienate their base to chase casuals.

NFL. You can tell offense by formations pre snap what may happen.

4 wide shotgun. You know it's a draw/delayed handoff or usually quick passes because the protection will not normally allow much more unless your line is elite or defense is in protect end of game/half. You just want to get ball into playmakers hands and let them cook.

The day WNBA beats NBA in ratings, this board is gonna implode. Because when it’s about vibes, storylines and aura then your floor is as low as it gets
Look at what the nba is giving fans for eastern confer basketball, i question anyone that watches that

I mean when you look at the NBA discourse on this site and social media, their thought process makes total sense.

Posters are always complaining about it, yet stay engaging in said content.
Yep it’s unfortunate for the “real“ basketball fans but they’re just doing what makes the most sense which is to just talk about the star players because that’s all the average fans really cares about

Why do NFL fans watch this type of content? They aren't 6'4" with a rocket arm or 300lbs running a sub 5 40 time... etc....

Because every team plays differently in the NFL... so X's and 0's makes sense.

every team in the NBA shoots 3's,, aint no X's and 0's to that shyt.
