NBA “fans” are increasingly content to ”view” games through highlights and y’all think the answer is more X’s and O’s programming :mjlol:

Nah, I don't think "More X's and O's" is the answer but covering the sport like it's the fukking Real Housewives is insulting to people such as myself who like the league.. :mjlol:

No they wouldn’t. Nothing even points to nba and nfl fandom being the same so just a blanket wish that if there was more people would want it is unfounded. Again, them x and o shows for the NFL ain’t even what does numbers so let’s stop acting like your average fan is wanting that

Even the primary shows on ESPN/NFL Network cover way more of the actual in-game content than what you see ESPN discussing with the NBA...

Been telling yall for YEARS that NBA media is TRASH. Had @CHICAGO bushing my threads when posting about this rubbish. :mjpls: Now folks are getting it.

Silver needs a media overhaul on how the game should be covered moving forward.

He needs a deal like Stern had when he fukked things up with NBC. With the CBS deal, the NBA had no rights on how their games were covered. Everything was under the CBS umbrella. When they got to NBC, Stern worked a deal where "NBC Sports" which managed all their sports would not have creative control over the brand and left it to the NBA. Stern fukked it up turning the league into a player-centric first league which we are still dealing with today. But Silver should ask for the same creative control Stern had and have control over how the game should be covered. It will take time, but the NBA needs an overhaul on how its discussed.

It's pure trash.

ESPN was better about this is the earlier days of their daytime NBA show with early Rachel Nichols, but espn has failed terribly to get their nba personnel right, so yea, they definitely drop the ball all around. I don’t find their nba talking heads appealing at all

The only thing I give the NBA credit for is seeing how valuable the hip hop culture was to sports first and letting it weave itself into the entertainment part of the sport.
Then using it to promote the sport.

They were pushing back on it for awhile just like everything is in society but they saw society changing, the young players in the league changing. And they decided to open up a little bit and let hip hop culture flourish in the nba.

The NFL was late to the party when it came to diversity.
And has only started to embrace the culture and market the game using hip hop culture recently.
And they still seem to be trying to keep it from growing

Norfeast groovin…
I think it’s a question of balance. Sure, you’re going to have the fukkery because it sells but if there isn’t at least one or two alternatives then how can you take it seriously?

The NFL never had to do the same thing the NBA did with being fake.
People love the violence of football and there seemed to be more parity or the sense that any team might have a shot any given year.
So that makes it more popular

The NBA took off once it started to adopt the rivalry story lines, the heel and face, the next big thing etc

Football is also more complex. So the fans have to understand the game at a deeper level.
Which makes the fans more knowledge.

With the NBA you hear alot of commentators refer to things that have nothing to do with x's and O's.
"His body language"... "jokic stood up the whole game"... "they didn't come to play".

Watching inside the NBA with Draymond and seeing people talk about the games on social media, shows me the basketball fan and culture is cooked
Good point.

The nature of football and its culture is all about film study and strategy. Been watching all these Kurt Warner videos on Dak and the Cowboys and it makes you realize how much shyt goes beyond the players raw ability.

Basketball has X's and O's but elite players never talk about the mental side. Elite NFL players like Ed Reed, Peyton Manning etc., always talked about the mental chess match. NFL has done a great job of showing the physical AND mental side.

Basketball REALLY needs to step that side of things up. Fans need to understand it's more than just a bunch of 6'5"+ nikkas and Euro nikkas running and jumping.

Just get some ex-players to do breakdowns like this for YT:

NFL fans be drunk af fighting in the stands

Why we acting like the shyt nfl does is “complex”
This is a dumb ass retort. How is this a rebuttal to how a product is pushed to the masses and the manner by which they take it in?
