Quik and ATL went gold in 91 before Always Into Somethin dropped?
nikkas from the east and south also bit the chronic
link to some east and south joints biting the chronic
All this talk about "playing instruments" proves you don't know what you're talking about because in rap all the cats who get additional keyboard credits are actually composing music not just playing keys
Dope producers can't advance because people like you keep co-signing producers like Dre/Timbo who need to keep dope young cats around to keep their sound relevant
And again this is not relevant to the topic which is whether or not Dre is influential
What kinda "real producer" and "GOAT producer" can't put out an album
notorious big first album
scarface the world is yours
The whole question of whether dre is influential is a no brainer. Of course he's influential, his sound defined an era. When you say west coast hip hop the first name that comes to mind is Dre point blank period. Same foes for producers like Timbo, Kanye, Marley Marl, Preme, etc. Their sound defined the era they came up in and producers who came after them all took a page out of their book. I agree that dre doesn't have an excuse for dropping an LP, except the fact that the bar is set so high for anything that he does bc his prior work is incredible, so it's almost impossible to top. Come on man, he's responsible for at the very least three of the greatest rap lps of all time and he's not influential ??? I don't get ur logic. Any of these "dope new cats" would bow in dres presence man gimme a break.
What songs on Big's album aside from Big Poppa
link those Scarface songs
Not sure about the south but Masta Ace was heavily influenced by G-Funk in the early 90's.
know your history
the west coast sound is not exclusive to Dre
the only sound that Dre came up with originally was the 2001 sound that he's been on ever since
and even that was Scott Storch's template from Still DRE
and no one uses that sound except G-Unit/Shady/Aftermath
