Does the large Caribbean presence in NYC's Hip Hop scene explain the disconnect with other regions?

Plenty of AA's and Caribbs are born in raised in countries like Japan. We know they would be considered a Japanese CITIZEN. His ethnicity and descent will always remain AA/and or Caribb.

cleveland and chicago have sizable amounts of ricans and even something y'all didn't have until fairly recently...mexicans.
i grew up w/ somalis, laos, cambos, etc.
No other black ethnic groups came around outside of african refugees.
I notice islanders only move where their group is. AAs pioneer. You can find us anywhere (which is fukking dumb and bad strategy, but hey...that's how we are)...Coward nikkas can't make it without their homeboys, even lifewise.
I wonder how these groups would do if they had to live like us with no lifeline. No place to call home...they ain't doing so well with it, tbh. It doesn't give you superpowers.

That's true, and you know what, Chicago nikkas reminded me NYC nikkas. It used to trip me out how we seemed to gel with each other, they just had more southern to their talk and more into gangs. Everywhere else, we were different. Still cool with each other, at least on my part, but still different.

I have an auntie from the deep south that went to NY to go to school. She became a completely different person.
You have to. You have to be "New Yorky" to live in New York. You have to walk with traffic. You have to talk like

To an extent I could see that, Frisco is like that to a small extent. Its certain shyt nikkas in Frisco will fukk with that nobody else in the Bay does let alone the rest of the country lol. Oakland nikkas were always more in tune with the Southern/Midwestern music scenes... a lot of Frisco nikkas only slap Bay Area shyt with some SoCal shyt mixed in sometimes. The provincialism factor probably does account for a lot of it in New York... The moment you're in a black city/community that's outside of NYC's sphere of influence though (i.e. Philly) you're back in Black America tho lol.
