Does the large Caribbean presence in NYC's Hip Hop scene explain the disconnect with other regions?

all modern music came from Jazz

Jazz was the classical killer.

Most modern American music came from slaves developing gospel, blues, call and response, etc based on the music they brought with them and the influence of their new environment, thus creating something unique. Country music was created by a black and white mixture of gospel, blues, and European ballads resulting Appalachian music.. Jazz was influenced by a bunch of shyt, from gospel/blues and vaudeville to European classical music. The point is that like most things in America, it's a mixture of influences that could only happen here.
