Does anyone else feel like solo comic book films are suffering from having universe building?

You seem to not understand the difference between a season of a television show with one arc and 12 movies all with their own stories and heros.

If you can't tell the difference in story telling between a season of a TV show and 12 separate films I'll never be able to explain it to you because you have some type of disability.:yeshrug:

Or there is no fundamental difference. Nice try though. :mjlol:

Because you're a stan and your main objective in this thread is stanning and other stans are dapping you.

Good job,you have obvious stan @wire28 dapping you while you make irrelevant points to the conversation.

"Disney makes money!" :krs: gets dapped by @wire28

Good job. Now leave the thread if you can't stop stanning for one minute.
Oh the Marvel stan defense. We are the bane of your existence. :umad:

I somewhat agree. Movies in expanded universes almost feel like a season of show. Its like I know the endgame is Thanos, so I'm ready for that finale. The movies have to keep building to this endgame so they have to connect and I do think the story telling is somewhat suffering a little for it.

That being said, the universe has opened up people eyes to other character that wouldn't nobody check for. I know I wouldn't check for Antman or GotG on their own. We know they connected and it furthers the story you into so you got to check it out. If they are done good, you become a fan of the property. More money for them to put into other projects and take chances with.

Agreed.

Unfortunately the studios don't look at these as just singular movies anymore but as episodes in a larger story. Panther and Spidey were there to headstart their solo outings and to sell toys, that's pretty much it.

I enjoyed Civil War but it would have been much better without all the bloat.

Start as a tongue in cheek witty poster and devolve into the one note stan with no hint of humour you were parodying brehs.:scusthov:
Keep telling yourself that enough and you'll start to believe it. I'm not the one blantantly dismissing video evidence but proclaiming their is a widespread movie review conspiracy.

I'll let you get back to complaining about the different opinions you allegedly wanted to see.

I agree to a certain extent. Every movie, in particular Marvel, is just a big setup to the next film. I only say Marvel because DC has only two films in their cinematic universe compared to Marvel's 12+. It's cool because there is continuity but I feel it hurts the present film. I felt like this during Age of Ultron. There were so many seeds planted for Civil War that it became a distraction. It doesn't help that they had announced Civil War before Age of Ultron was even released.

To me this was a big problem with Dawn of Justice. I enjoyed it but everyone pretty much knew that this was a Justice League prequel. Even if it was called Worlds Finest instead of Dawn of JUSTICE it was just a big preview for Justice League.

This is also a problem with comics as well. For the last 15 years or so every issue is just a part of a event. Usually a arc lasts for 5-6 issues so it could be combined to a graphic novel and sold a few months later. Compare comics from the 90's, 80's, etc to today and you can see what I'm talking about.

You want a self contained story, go watch a non-franchise movie. The whole point of these franchises is to build off of an established foundation, that's what people like and that's what they want but its not like there aren't plenty of other options available.

its like complaining that their aren't enough 30 minute villain of the week cartoon shows anymore. The old format just doesn't' keep people's attention anymore.
