Since January of this past year I started making $325,000 a year as a SRE for the government. The funny thing though is that I still live with my folks from time to time (I have to travel). I've also been in a great relationship but unfortunately that will probably come to a end soon....other than that i don't have any debt or anything holding me back

My current lifestyle hasn't changed much besides upgrading my wardrobe. I still drive my 2014 vw passat, I still rock crocs most of the time and the money hasn't changed me...well it just made me more generous because I'm in a position to help others out.

For instance i paid for a trip to Las Vegas for my family for inependence day weekend (10 people total, staying at the cosmopolitan). I put my mom, her brother and his wife in first class(Delta/United) and placed them in the terrace suite...my younger cousins though I put them on spirit airlines lol...I did it on purpose to show them that life is all about choices..I can go on but I love my family and I just want them to have a good time.

After the trip I'm done splurging and im going to start getting into real estate investing pretty heavily....my plan is to get a couple houses and have my other family members work on them (remodel/sell/etc) so we can all get paid..im hoping that it could be the beginning of something great...

This has been a plan of mine since 2014 and its crazy how it's all falling into place but its scary at the same time because nothing is guaranteed. I guess my plan is my own version of reparations, but for my family.
Your story on how you came up in the IT game is incredible. I still salute you breh :salute:

I have a Z06 that’s more expensive than all those sans the AMG and just back into the $100k club. You most certainly can. But I invest, have zero debt, am cheap and don’t live any differently than I did making half that. Because as you said, it’s not balling out money but I dont live above my means. What I’ve noticed MORE is I’m more comfortable again. I don’t feel the need to check my balances on any purchases. I help family out and don’t need them to repay me. I don’t “feel the hits” of larger expenses. I’m chilling and saving (to invest again)

A baller income doesn't have you lacking in numerous areas of your life

What about my post suggests that I’m “lacking in numerous areas”? And who said it’s a baller income anyway? I’m just rebutting your post on what you said someone with $100k salary can’t have/do.

ATL, but rasied in DMV
If you single with children, then after taxes, all you'll be able to afford is Camry, and a new house in the hood.

Don't get me wrong though. A Camry is one of the most dependable cars you can get.

I do. Lifestyle ultimately depends on your situation / expenses, but no need to cap like it’s not (or shouldn’t be) comfortable living, generally speaking.

The regular joe concerns like affording groceries, gas prices, them new nikes, that new ps5, eating at a nice restaurant today this week month…

… doesn’t really cross the mind; it’s on sight.

That said, i agree with what a couple brehs said that the 200k+/year range is when you can start getting a little more ignorant. A couple years in at just 100k, you can get yourself a 20k Rolex, designer clothes sets, etc.

But anything more than that and you gotta start asking why you ain’t investing that shyt into something that will level up your cash flow past 100k.

I.e. habitually pursuing the luxury items may lead you down the path where you need the matching whip and house to complete the package. That’s a 200-500k package tbh.

I do, but I’m frugal and put a premium on saving and investing. Only thing I splurge on is traveling and a nice pad in a cool part of town.

I save about 30% of my take home pay and put 16%of gross in my 401-K.

I’m still whipping a 2003 Camry because I work from home and used to drive less than 3000 miles a year when I lived in DC area. But now that I’m back in the A, I’m thinking of leasing a 300 ES.

Nope, but I'm on pace to make 60K in a couple months.

Planning on sending my parents a few hundred a month as a way to alleviate some of their monetary troubles, as well as cop a few luxury watches to hold some value to my name.

I'm not gonna make enough to own a house or any real stock for a little while longer (probably 2026-ish), so watch collecting is the next best thing...besides a 401K, but I already have that:pachaha:.

The only thing I splurge on is for my family. Ill send my child to expensive summer camps like 15k a summer, buy my wife luxury bags, give my parents money for their birthdays, but for myself I'm very very frugal. I know quite a few people that make over 5mil a year and it's similar, more so splurging on the fam rather than themselves. Most of my money goes to mortgage, taxes, regular expenses, and I'll save the rest. I also know people that like to show off their wealth and that's their business.

After reading this thread, I need to up my investment and credit card game cause it seems like im way behind yall :francis:

But yes, i make over $100k and living in a 3rd world country, being single, no kids, no car, no investments, and being frugal means I save 75% of my monthly salary. I have enough saved that I could quit and not work for at least a year without any hiccups in paying bills or changes in spending habits.

But like I said, I need to up my investment game and start taking advantage of credit cards. :snoop:
