It's not their brand, homie. Everything has to be on brand. They really wanted Spielberg to cut smoking out of west side story because it doesn't fit the brand. I think they chilled on that because he's Spielberg, but that's where there head's are at. The satire Taika is doing about Hitler is a cheap little movie to make. But they've got cold feet because they don't want to ruffle feathers or offend anyone who doesn't get it.
This is stupid. The vast majority of movie goers don’t know what studio is behind movies, even with the logo in the opening credits :heh:

If it ain’t a Disney family movie or Pixar, I can’t name any movie a studio is attached to. They need to stop acting like the public gives a fukk. Our attention spans are shorter than they’ve ever been, connecting smoking in a movie to Disney is what absolutely no one cares about :stopitslime: Disney needs to let fox hang its balls

I hear u. They censor dudes at ESPN who say anything bad about trump because they don't want to upset redneck cacs
This is a move that makes sense. Sports attracts everyone, why would you toss half your fan base (probably more for espn since they’re so football centric) into the bushes?

I'm not sure if New Mutants can be put straight on to Disney Plus. Fox signed a 10 year deal in 2012 that said HBO would get TV and streaming first run rights to their movies and apparently they still have to honor that contract

I can already tell this Disney/Fox thing is going to unfold like EA/Bioware where EA's history of fukking things up gets them blamed for shyt they had no part of, like the end of "Mass Effect 3" and the subsequent death of that franchise.

Fred.
EA deserves the blame they have received where over the course of the last decade they have designed a predatory business model off of releasing AAA titles with "day 1 dlc". nikkas releasing a $60 game and charging an extra $20 or more for the rest of the game :mjlol:.

We can't forget the normalization of the loot box system in games where people have to spend money for in-game resources/bonuses. Congress going after the ESA about it all now.

Locking shyt behind paywalls is fukked up and the shyt EA has received for it is deserved.

The entire basis for this is a secondhand report that one executive at one screening expressed discomfort. There are no plans to do anything different with this movie.

'According to Variety, the Nazi subject matter at the heart of “Jojo Rabbit” is worrying some Disney executives. Variety’s report reads: “The scathing takedown of Nazism may, however, prove a little too edgy for Disney brass accustomed to producing movies suitable for parents and kids. Searchlight has started to screen the film for its new parent company. Halfway through one recent viewing one executive grew audibly uncomfortable, worrying aloud that the material would alienate Disney fans.”'

Disney Executive Fears Taika Waititi’s Nazi Satire ‘Jojo Rabbit’ Is Too Edgy For Studio Image — Report

They use 'executives' plural for no reason other than to drum up fear and anxiety.

I'm caping for accuracy. You want to get at them for canceling Fox movies which they have done, not promoting Fox movies, thinking they make cookie cutter movies you don't like, etc. have at it. Why lie about what is happening with Jojo Rabbit?
'“Jojo Rabbit” opens in theaters nationwide October 18.' until that changes what are we complaining about?

Uh....that's not what happened though.

Disney let several Fox movies ride and they all flopped. People act like they bought Fox and just cancelled everything they had in the works.

Fred.
The movies that were already shot or going into principal photography this year were always going to get released. It was everything after that that people were afraid was going to get bushed and this article pretty much confirms that they're going to be going over everything else with a fine tooth comb going forward which to me says 20th Century Fox is effectively dead. After the 2020 slate releases, they'll have like 2 theatrical releases a year with everything else going straight to Disney+/Hulu and even then you see what movies they threw out there as potential candidates for those platforms (Wimpy Kid, Home Alone, Night at the Museum).

A movie like Bad Times at the El Royale isn't coming out under a Disney led 20th Century Fox. They're citing Stuber's box office as a underperformance and it made 31M on a 16M budget. El Royale cost 32M to make and only made 31M at the box office. So basically don't even try to shop that shyt to Fox because it aint happening. Also the idea that they're just gonna shift movies like an El Royale to Disney+/Hulu is wishful thinking. We'll need to see how those first Marvel movies shake out budget wise but I'm not seeing a bunch of 30M movies being in the cards especially not for non franchise projects. Disney wants the Netflix money but they're not about to sacrifice profitability like Netflix in order to achieve it though.
