None of that has anything to do with what fukked up the "Mass Effect" franchise, which is the ending to 3. That's all Bioware. So is "Andromeda".

This is what I'm talking about though. Yeah EA is terrible but Bioware ran "ME" into the ground and cats blamed EA. shyt was :unimpressed:

Fred.
EA gets more shyt for their predatory practices than what happened to ME. When gamers went off on the ending of ME 3 they went after Bioware not EA. The complaint to the FTC, BBB (and others) and even the petition to have the ending changed was all directed to Bioware :justwhy:.

They did market them. There was several trailers and a full press tour for "Dark Phoenix" and that was hands down the biggest flop since the merger. I'm not understanding what else Disney was supposed to do....this very site said that movie was a terrible idea from jump street.

It seems like people (this isn't directed at you specifically) are just taking "they didn't market those films" from the article and running with it....when that clearly ain't the case. It's damn near click bait, honestly, because you can go on Youtube and see literally dozens of interviews and press junkets for "Dark Phoenix".

Fred.
Terrible movies make bank all the time when they are part of successful franchieses. Look at Lion King - everyone agrees that movie is worthless and it still made tons of money. Do you believe it's false that Disney laid off the marketing team? That they were focused on controlling costs at the premier?

Either way, the reason that Dark Phoenix flopped isn't particularly important, because Disney is going to keep making lots of movies EXACTLY like Dark Phoenix. You really think they're going to stop making big budget superhero sequels? We can all see the real issue coming from a mile away - they're cynically using Dark Phoenix's flop to cut off funding for any risky and interesting movies coming through the pipeline.

This is a move that makes sense. Sports attracts everyone, why would you toss half your fan base (probably more for espn since they’re so football centric) into the bushes?

Who is tossing anyone into the bushes? If ESPN (Disney) didn't want to jump into politics then maybe they shouldn't have made the ESPYs into a political awards show but they did and they have spent time on agendas in the political world they thought they could make money from.

But then they saw that these rednecks were getting a little uneasy about it and they started censoring their own employees. I don't wanna hear shyt about how great Black Panther was right now lol Disney clearly does not give a fukk and anyone who bought into that lie is an idiot.

I haven't seen Dark Phoenix but the X-Men franchise was a hit under FOX for the most part. X-Men Days of Future Past did over $700M at the box office. Logan did exceptionally well, it was nominated for an Oscar in writing. The Deadpool movies cost nothing to make and ended up making well over $700M at the box office as well.

Deadpool is actually one of the more profitable franchises around because the movies have a very low budget.

I'm not gonna sit here and pretend that FOX ruined that franchise, they clearly did not. They did have some shytty movies in there but the hits were big hits.

I haven’t watched espys in years, so I assume you’re talking Michael Sam/Caitlyn Jenner shyt...well sir, that offends people on both sides, and that’s not politics as much as a sociological shift. ESPN has had plenty of coverage of the whole kaep thing from multiple angles, proving that when it’s tied to sports, they let disccuion happen (to a point), but unprompted political talk is their line, and it makes perfect business sense.

nah I'm not just talking about that. ESPN/ABC was slanted left for a minute and touched on many topics in the political sphere. Then they got cold feet about it. Anyone who was looking to Disney to be this progressive powerhouse was fooling themselves, there are people and corporations who are willing to lose out on a little money to serve the "greater good" or what have you but Disney ain't one of 'em.

Ok...not sure where all this came from but I agree on not expecting companies to align to political causes that hurt the bottom line

I don’t watch anything on abc outside of sitcoms, so I’m not sure what their slant was, but espn wasn’t slanted either way. They always had a contingent of old curmudgeonly conservative white guys as well as urban (black and white) liberals - politics wasn’t even a thing on espn like that until the kneeling shyt blew up

Apocalypse underperformed which is the movie before this

I saw this movie flopping since the lukewarm reception to Apocalypse

Ok so i’m not arguing that Fox deserves to get shyt on for some of the awful moves they made but am I the ONLY one who, upon watching the first Dark Phoenix trailer, just KNEW it was going to he a steaming pile of shyt? I mean you can’t TELL ME that these Disney executives didn’t have an inkling that they were in for a massive flop with that movie.

Of course they knew, but they let the shyt rock because they kinda had to. And now they're staring at New Mutants (which apparently everyone knows is trash hence the repeated reshoots and push backs) and are already dreading releasing it.
