All this thread did for me was confirm how low the bar is tbh
Now that I'm older and have seen what some of my peers do for their kids compared to others? Knowing what's out there?
Its fukking insane how many people bring kids into the world then think that putting food on the table and essentially winging it while dropping their children off at public schools is going above and beyond.

especially in a setting where we are already set as below average systemically. like, we all know about black v. white income gaps. even on the higher end of the spectrum we all know the black doctors make less than the white ones. we all know about disparities in health.... that black people have a higher rate of heart disease, and so on and so on. so knowing that, its hard for me to think it's going to be "ok" to raise my child as the average american. the average american is fn struggling out here. these kids need to be booked and busy, not just chillin on tablets and eating takis lol

My pops apologized before he died. So yeah:to:

man, my dad apologizes and cries all the time about how he could have been a better parent. its hard to see a grown man regret :francis:

How could you really know how someone’s relationship with they parents was

He doesn’t but he’s probably a dead beat himself. I don’t know for sure :manny: but I’m willing to bet

It’s kind of a low key running theme on the Coli. Dead beats who make excuses for parenting because their absent or pieces of shyts themselves so they “get” why they were neglected or had their parents fail them. It’s a poor pathetic excuse and something too much of us internalize as being okay.

Bruh username is literally “fukkthemkids” :mjlol: can’t make this shyt up.

Tough to say...

As a grown man whose been on his own creating/cultivating his own life for 2+ decades, I can't blame them.

Let's just say I try with great intent to correct things and not relive events of my past.:wow:

On one hand y’all say the parents of today ain’t shyt and need to do better by they kids

But on the flip side the people that raised the parents of today y’all want to give them a pass and if anybody speak on them that person is considered soft?

Parents aren’t above reproach from they grown kids

Nope. I'm lucky and very fortunate to have two parents who worked they ass off to provide for me and my siblings my whole life.

Wouldn't be the man I am today if it weren't for them and I'm forever grateful. Took a long time to come to that realization, but that's how life is.

Hopefully my kids smarten up faster than I did.

I failed myself. If anything I just needed guidance…but even then I was too knuckle headed to understand it.

These parents are failing these kids when they don't instill discipline, don't teach them how to respect adults/authority figures.

Don't teach kids there are consequences for their actions, manners, basic courtesy.

Don't take their education seriously, constantly excuse their children's bad behavior etc...
