Did rewatching Dragonball Z change opinions you had about certain characters?

Only issue with Faulconer's score was the lack of empty BGM scenes. Japanese does it beautifully. KungFu-esque. Great tension building tool that clears the way for powerful dialogue.

Other than that, he hit the big scenes.

This new age hate he gets is confusing.
I wouldn't really call it new age. He was DESPISED on the internet in the late 90s when most of the dub audience was too young to be really participating in the online community at that level. Then the love started pouring in during the mid-late 00s when people my age started hopping on forums

the worst thing about the funi dub was never the music, it was the acting.

when they first hired the current crop of voice actors they were amateurs and had next to no experience. they got them dirt cheap.

Doesn't match my experience. :manny:

I lived on DBZ forums back then and the topic of Faulconer music, good or bad, never stood out. It was what it was. The communities I was part of weren't weeaboo types, though. If anything, it was Toonami music (and promos) that had the internet goin nuts.

This I'll agree with.

Schemmel and Sabat sound rough as hell, especially Sabat as Piccolo :scust:

Goku sounds very flat and monotone because Schemmel was trying to sound like Ian James Corlett.

Can we talk about how Cell's first form is literally the boogeyman? While Frieza is the best villain because of his history, Imperfect Cell was by far the most menacing.

Just the whole concept of him would make a frightening horror movie. He's this gigantic insectoid looking thing that creeps around in the shadows and targets the everyday person. He didn't kill people by simply blowing them up either. He stabbed you with his tail and sucked your organs dry from the inside out, leaving nothing but your clothes scattered on the floor

I'll never forget that first scene of him absorbing someone in front of Piccolo. Piccolo was absolutely terrified

Then there were the scenes of empty towns littered with only the clothed remains of people Cell killed. Or those scenes where he became a slasher movie villian like when he impaled that couple with his tail at a carnaval. Looking back I'm surprised they didn't put DBZ on the Adult Swim block because of the way he killed people

Going way back to Dragonball

Bulma really pulled out a pistol and shot a 10 year old boy in the head in some road rage shyt

If Goku wasn't a Saiyan he would've been slumped alone right there in the woods

:mjlol:

English voice acting was better than the Japanese voice acting too.

Goku sounding like a whiny little bytch
:hhh:
I just don’t get why someone would want to watch it with the Japanese voice acting unless they can speak Japanese. There’s shows and movies that I can still enjoy without if they have stuff in a language that I need subtitles for, but this just isn’t one of them.

I like animes enough to tolerate subtitles but some people swear by Japanese voice acting over English. I'd rather watch English with bad acting than the whiny ass Japanese voices any day tho.

Japan always make their protagonist sound like women and I cant rock with that.

DBZ in particular is better in English in every way, they atleast try to make goku seem like a hero while he's literally retarded in the Japanese version, on top of sounding like a girl.

Why does Goku need to seem like a hero? The English dub changes dialogue but not his actions so he still doesn't seem like much of a hero either way.
