Review rips this movie to shreds. Even if you liked the film can yall co-sign or is she just mad at who directed it.

A friend of mine felt that it was continuation of the genre that Peele created with "Get Out". A Black horror film. So in that sense I can how she felt. I've also heard how Black women are ignored. Which is ironic because I didn't even pay attention to that (thus ignoring). I can understand the gripe with it feeling shallow. As I stated, it didn't feel "authentically black" at times. Especially with some of the things the character do. But I still say it's worth seeing

the key to me is the last part of her tweet.....basically she's saying "here's my 2 cents and why my opinion is more important"

We know it's based on a true story about the Riots then and how the city never really recovered. All these mufukkaz with their look at me shyt too trying too hard get on my nerves. That's about 90 percent of these bloggers/critics.

Don't tell me they made this a horror film...:snoop:.

Second the story is about 3 black males being killed, 7 black males being beaten and 2 white females being beaten.

If the story is 90% about this incident there really isn't going to be much discussion on black women.

Some times kats be getting offended just to be offended.

A better discussion could be why make a movie on the detriot riots that focus on this incident that involves white folks as the victims.

They could have done a story that centered around the black folks in the blind pig club that was raided which basically started the riots.

Its like the whole Mississippi Burning and how the onoy reason that story was told by hollywood was because two of the victims were white.

B+. I can def. see it nominated for an Oscar. And for those who watch it, my pops has a different perspective on that time. Detroit wasn't a poor city. If you really wanted work, you could get it. Auto plants, etc. People were migrating from the South to get to Detroit. After the riots is what caused Detroit to be what it is today. There is a certain scene which makes it seem like some 1 person was looting because they're poor but in his view that wasn't the case. She has a poltical agenda so keep that in mind when you watch this.

True man. Detroit was like Dallas, or Houston or Atlanta today.

It was a place where blacks were doing very well from an economical stand point and was looked at as a black mecca of sorts.

The riots and the american automotive industry not having a stronghold on the american consumer has caused Detroit to look like it has today.

This movie is nothing like "Get Out." Ignore that commentary.
The comparison is that it's a social thriller where the villian is society itself created systematically (instead of a horror like Michael or Jason)

its not a thriller, breh

It is a real story, and the villain were the cops who acted that way.
Yes, I understand but for those view it that way. The Algier scenes come off like a thriller. And in their view the villains ( the cops) are a result of a systematic creation
