Just finished watching this, and I hated it only cause of how accurate this type of shyt is. But it also weirdly felt like a black terror film, and being that the director is an old white woman, it makes sense. Good performances from a lot of the cast, almost TOO good. There was really no true resolve in this film, and when I watch films like this, despite it being horrific, I want that horrific non-sugar coated accuracy. This was dark, bleak, and true. I was pissed off, as I should’ve been. I fully knew those cops wouldn’t face any consequences cause the justice system is firmly set up for them, no matter that amount of evidence against them. We saw how that played out in real time with Chauvin, the only reason he got what he got was cause not only was the evidence overwhelming and in everyone’s faces, but Chauvin’s defense team were in over their heads.
I don’t want to say this movie was “good”, but it did exactly what it was supposed to do. White people rarely get what’s coming to them. Gotta watch Django for that.
